I'm starting DD101, can't work out how to get connected to other students on FB. Anyone else doing or done the course on here?I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.
Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.0 -

I'm in Norfolk.
Apologies its me its DD101 - all in 1 at the end if we pass we get a certifciate in Social Sciences, and get letters after our name!
It gets me confused as you can do it all in one as we are, or theres the option of doing in in 2 halves, so I though the 01 was the 1st half..
If your Norfolk we won't get the same tutor, just looked at the course quickly on home page and we've got 7 tutorials.. from Jan there 1 a month or so...help!!
I always panic with new courses, got the box sat in the hallway - thinking if I open it - means have to get started!
Don't forget to apply for your NUS card - you go through NUS website thinks £14 lasts till end of Aug, but cinema get cheaper rate, a lot of the shops, attractions you get child price, - you can soon cover the cost of the card.

Does anyone have an EMA that is a literature review to do? I'm trying to write mine, but it seems to want me to spend 500 words describing how I searched for stuff and how I selected things (erm, I read them and didn't included them if I thought they were rubbish?). I don't know if I've interpreted that right - is it a normal part of an EMA to have to do that? I use operators a lot when I search and I'm worried about what they'll think if I start writing out crazy looking search strings.
It really breaks the flow of my essay too (well, what little there is of it at the moment :rotfl:) as the "strongly advised" format suggests it sits between the introduction and the main body.
The marking grid is also making me nervous - there are marks available for responding and adapting your plan to your tutors comments; but there isn't actually anything I can respond to on mine. *sigh*
Already got and used NUS card though- even if the students at work find it hilarious
It's paid for itself already, plus the ISIC extra is really worth it if you travel a lot too.
My readers and stuff for the next ones have turned up too - for one course it is just a single book (which bizarrely I already have a copy of), but for the other it's a mahoosive box o'stuff.
Ahhh... still, better stop procrastintating and get back to work - am working away from home at the moment for a couple of days - I thought I would have some peace and quiet on my own, but there appears to be an army of tap-dancing hippos (plus an unhappy baby) in the apartment above *sighs again*. And no access to wine either.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

Not done literature, sorry, but what course is it?
It says about tutors commets etc - responding and adapting = when you submit your EMA its not marked by your tutor, so who ever marks it won't know what you have done previosuly.
generally on the EC3, (the report page from tutor) they put there thoughts down, it could be something as simple as youve changed how youve searched for info, - where as previously you may have read a chapter of a book, but now you skim read through the 1st chapter, and by then this will show whether the book is suitable to use, or not.
500 words thats 1 sheet a4 in the whole thats a small portion of the ema. Literature - your going to use various sources, its a way of them seeing that your not just using your course material that your looking for additional information, so you could explains sources, what your looking for from them, how you extract the info,.
I could be going off on a tanget but hopefully it might make some sense.
Sometimes take a day break then come back refreshed, if your still not 100$ sure whether you have read the ENA right email your tutor or ring them and ask,
Good luck xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
