Any OU postgrad students on here?

Just been accepted on the MA English course starting in September (my undergrad degree wasn't in English so my application had to be reviewed). :D

Has anyone done E846? (Curriculum, learning and society: investigating practice)

I need to choose the last module for next year (the other one is compulsory)and this is the current favourite. I work in a University though, so I'm not sure how it would fit in.

The other option is E855 (leading professional practice in education), but the group work component makes me nervous :/

Hiya. Yeah I did it as part of my Masters in Education. VERY interesting module. A fair bit of revisting basic theories (behaviourism, socio-culturalism etc), but taking it a step further. I did my first degree in education studies with early years, so did the theories to death, but still found this course interesting. Very much pushing towards favouring socio-constructivism. Also covered gender inequalties in assessment styles for example. Really really good course :)

The compulsory one, is it E891? Educational enquiry? I did that one too. Im grateful for how much I learned from it in terms of preparing me for writing at publication quality, and I intend to do a PhD too; but my god was the course boring!!! sorry! Useful, but like pulling teeth sometimes.

If you've had OU funding, then that's your student grants all used up unfortunately. The only other option I've heard of is a career development loan - which will sometimes pay for course fees.

may have found a way around it, from september this yr if u start a new degree you can have funsing for 4 times the standard route, whether it would aply to me I don't know, but may be helpful to someone else who needs funding, x
