my wife has just bought one of these irons and she is unsure if the iron is meant to steam all the time?it seems like lots of steam some times but it seems to iron better when it is like this.what does eveybody else do?0

I was unsure too.
There is the button underneith that gives steam in bursts and the one on top for all the time. I click the one on top then click the one underneith when I have to put it on the rest to turn what I am ironing around if that makes sense0 -
yeah thats what i do....just got mine today and have flown through all the ironing..great iron...only fault is its quite heavy(i have arm and wrist problems)still cuts the ironing time in half..
how do you know how much water is left in and when you need to add more??0 -
I am enjoying using my iron so far but had a funny thing happen this evening when i was using it, I saw water marks on the clothes that i was ironing and thought the iron was dripping water. To cut a long story short, i realised its water seeping through, under and upwards through the mesh/sponge lining/cotton material on the ironing board. I believe its condensation through the amount of steam that is used. I ran my fingers under the rim of the ironing board and found it was wet all the way around the ironing board. Maybe i need a thicker cover on the board???? Has any-one else noticed this?“Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. Your really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” Lucille Ball.0

no but i think they do recommend a mesh style iorning board so the steam can pass through without pooling0

I was given a Breville from Argos as a present. The first one developed a fault on the second use. Now on iron no 2 - seems fine so far (1 week) It was £130. Not sure what the difference is - it looks very like the Russell Hobbs. Mine has a filter which you replace at intervals for the hard water situation. However we have soft water. The iron is designed to use tap water - you get a test strip to test your water before using and then set the iron accordingly - presumably some set up for the filter.
I also have an auto shut off feature - quite reassuring.
My concerns are the noise - does mean the TV has to be very loud!!! and the amount of steam generated in the room - found it best to iron by the cooker hood - more noise! and no TV in the kitchen!0 -
Only fault we can find with the iron is a lack of indication of how much (or how little) water is left in the base unit.0
