It's not quiet but not that loud (saying that I switched the tumble dryer off when I was using it as the 2 together were a bit much.).

I find tumble dryers are noisy too!! and dyson hoovers (good as they are!)

Why with all this technology can they not invent quieter ones?? ha ha (we need more women's input in the design stages me thinks!!!)

I live in teesside,an area reknowned for hard water supply, in the 6 years I have owned generator irons I have only ever used tap water, with no bad effects on iron or clothes.
The thing you will find is, that if you leave water in iron after it has cooled it becomes very limey, so always make sure you remember to empty thouroghly - I rinse the tank before putting away. I am sure in the original papers i got with my tefal iron it said, not to use anything other than tap water as the iron tank has a special coating inside it to prevent scaling.

    hope this helps

    I've been Money Tipped!
I've just got my iron. sold out of boards though. I bought a bottle of the scented water they were selling. :j

I've just read the instructions and it says plain water only!

So should I not use it.

    Thanks
  • Has anyone bought the 2000w Bosun Steam Station Iron from pricecrash.tv? Is it any good? Is this the same one that Aldi is selling. I've had a look at their website but it doesn't seem to be listed there anymore...

    Thanks.

can anyone tell me what knob 'd' is for?should I turn it ?

Knob D controls the amount of steam - the more vertical lines, the more steam you get - just roll the switch-dial thingy.

I did a batch of shirts yeterday and very pleased with the results. I got the ironing board with plug but where do you attach it to the ironing board?
  • Just to say that I ended up buying the Challenge steam generator from Argos because even though it's £49.99, I had £12.50 worth of Nectar points to use so it worked out cheaper (and also Argos is considerably nearer to us than Aldi!).

Anyway, I'm really chuffed with the iron - it got straight to work on a 100% white cotton duvet cover that I hadn't been able to get the creases out of with my old iron. Ordinarily I avoid ironing like the plague, but I wanted to use this duvet cover in our new guest room and it's come up beautifully.

Owning a steam generator might just have changed my attitude to ironing forever!
