my husband told me to mention his money saving efforts today - he fixed the drive on the computer himself as he got chatting to the man in the shop who told him what to do, so instead of 60.00, only cost us 20.00, massive saving of 40.00.
I was thinking I might start using up some stash and make some cards for my car boot sale at easter, every little helps.0 -
wow - does everyone else have a life here on mse tonight but me - I feel all alone!0
-
have checked all your little green lights too - nobodies even lurking...0
-
Hey Scattymam you are not alone - I am normally a serial lurker but dont like the thought of you on your own - :hello: so I am sending you a big hello on this Saturday night.
I have booked my sons football party and am trying to get some inspiration for party bags - I though of giving them all a football mug filled with sweets but cant find them cheap enough - so far he has invited 35 of the little angels!
Anyone any ideas would be greatly appreciated:xmastree:0 -

Are u sure our children are not related - dd shared her bday party last yr 35 children, (we agreed 30, but the other mother kept inviting others:mad: ), this yr same place but told her maximum of 30.
Dont know if you have a home bargains near u, but I got a lovely set, 3 rubbers and pencil sharpner for 39p, the boys were football themed and the girls were pretty flower themed. Have u tried Wilkinsons or £1 shops and get the small football cups, sweets etc you can buy 30 lollipops for £1.00 and get some of the florist wrap and do the prezzies that way.
What I did with dds last yr was got presents from halfcost, the girls had blue head back pack, the boys had pumpbag they were £1.00 each, know halfcost is hit and miss, the stock usually changes on a fri, parcel week to 10 days, (dont know how much time u have).
Good luck. xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
The most weird thing hs just happened, went into kitchen earlier to get a drink, then bout 10 mins ago thought I heard voices, thought that strange as I'm the only one up, so nipped into kitchen and the radio was on, but it wasn't on the 1st time. Freaky!!
Quiet here, took dd yesterday for pizza, have to confess I was naughty, big queue and the waitress came down saying its 45mins wait.
Infront of me really posh family, granny, daughter, grandchildren and 1 friend,
the conversation -
granny - Oh no I do not think a 45 minute wait is accpetable, do they not realise we have arrangements
(I'm trying not to laugh)
granny to daughter - if its 45 minutes wait, that will be ok as we have 1hr 15mins before the film starts, so thats 30 minutes for the foodas we have got xxxs parents meeting us at cinema, shall we go to McDonalds
(for about the next 10 mins there still discussing it,)
The waitress comes back and says its 30 - 45mins -
they start discusiing it again
me being such a helpful lady - said, sorry to but in, but with your tight schedule, and the length of the queue, yes your get in, but dont forget that there will be a backlog on the food
discuss again, then head to McDonalds
Then the family in front of them said where have they gone, I said McDonalds, because of the q, so they decide to go to Mcdonalds as well, 2 familes down, were at front of the queue, and only waited 5 mins!!
Friday was foot measureing, dd still in same size go back Easter, called via B+M.
Bargains -
Snow White paint ur own canvas £3
Cinderalle paint ur own mug £1
Gift - pr slippers and 2 bottles of food cream gd 2010 date, reduced £3.99 to £1.99 - so thats gone up 4 xmas.
Then dd wanted to call at Home Bargains - lethal -
Cadburys Jaffa cakes 99p double pack - 6 boxes in trolley
Then dd wanted some pork scratching, yes grab a few packs, when I got to the till the little "angel" had put 20 packs in!!

then you can do mine
Scattyman, sorry for leaving you all alone, I was working and earning pennies ... was rushed off my little feet and ended up working behind the bar with no shoes on cause my feet were hurting so bad!
Right I am dissapearing ..... I have other threads to post in before hauling my back end to bed!!! .....
have a nice couple of days xxxxxxxRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
hi snickers - I gave up and went to bed, I'm sure I've seen chocolate footballs in home bargains, or maybe wilkos...football party sounds good - planning my dd's party now myself - not til may but want to be really organized with a 'z'.
thanks mum2one - I'm going to get myself to hb - never thought of those pencil kits for party bags - need to think of a theme for the party - wanted to do a sort of cupcake theme - but we're thinking of having it at a play area that has a pirate ship theme so pirates would be more suited!!
I like your pizza hut story - here's a tip for everyone - when you go somewhere to eat and they say half an hour in most cases it won't be quite that long - they just tell you that becasue if they say 15mins and you end up having to wait 30 they'll get it in the neck off you, but if they say 30 and you only wait 15 then you're happy. At least that's what we used to do - used to work in a very busy brewsters.
Like the sound of the slipper set - wonder if our bm has them!?
rusty you are excused cos you were working hard - what was everyone else doing?
After dd and dh come home from gymnastics this morning we're all off for a walk with the dog on the beach after having a kfc breakfast that we have vouchers for...and then Lost tonight.:D0 -
I got some ebaying done, & had an early(ish) night.
Aurora, I dont know if it was your relaxing thoughts coming this way, or coincidence, but first of all my Mom nearly fell asleep at mine at around 3, then both my kids began dozing off at 4 (gave LO a bath to wake him up a bit, 4 is not a good time to sleep if I want him to go to bed at a reasonable time), I began nodding off at 5:45. LO finally fell asleep at 9, which isnt great, but not too bad either, he woke up a couple of times for a drink (think its routine with him now) but didnt actually get up (:j YAY!!!) & slept through till 8:30!!!! So if it was your relaxing little thoughts thank you:beer: :T :A !!
Well done you mum2one, dont you love it when that happens! At my pizza hut, if they've that much of a rush they're just plain rude, definately drives the customer off.
Whats the KFC brekky like Scatty? I'm not keen on their food normally as I find it sooooooooo salty. Well done Scattydad on doing his bit of saving as well :T
Hello Snickers, well done on taking the plunge & keeping Scatty company:j . Wish I could give you some ideas for the party but my lot arent really into football so dont notice the stuff.
Yay, Liberty cottage is back, cept I think its made me lose my OH to Jammy:eek:You cant take a step forward with both feet on the ground0 -
I am being so lazy this morning, typing from under the duvet!
I woke up at 6.30am ,as per usual, fed my 2 little kitten cats, and went back to bed with my computer and have watched iplayer since 6.45am.
I am an early bedder, especially at the moment when i'm the only adult around......I'd just rather go to bed! Except Thursday night, i stay up for ER , woowoo!
Not very moneysaving but i think we'll go out for lunch!
Enjoy your Sunday0
