Yes ON my head :rotfl: I did actually mean in :rotfl: Oooooh dear! I am sooo tired, I was drifting in and out of sleep watching the film :( I need sleeeepppp

Ok so as she has mentioned it ...

The other night she Forced me to get my webcam out ... I think she only wanted to make sure I was actually real and not some dodgy ogre with green ears or something! ... anyway so I did right ... and she understands this credit crunch business when I am sitting talking to her in pitch black :rotfl: ... I asked what Lee was doing and she showed me a naked Lee  lying down wearing only Boxes ... no not BOXERS but BOXES!!! and ikea ones at that :rotfl: She was throwin screws about, loosing the plot and then to top it all off she sat eating noooooodles!!! :rotfl:

Was a fantastic night bless her, I only ever use my webcam for the kids when we phone my dad through skype in Bulgaria ... just so he can see how big they are and talk to them properly! :)

So I soooo haven't done any crafting :( I think we are supposed to be going out tomorrow somewhere?? with one of OH's friends but I might set the alarm and get up a bit earlier and craft then in the peace and quiet ;)

Goodnight ladies, I need to drag OH to bed ... he is snoring on the sofa!

I don't want to seperate us up or anything, Just Jammy hadn't seemed 'posty' lately and then she was all excited and exuberant over her thrifty challenge so I wondered if my chat and christmas rubbish was doing her head in. As it turns out, she loves it all and i'm a donkey. EEE AWWWWW.

Nope, just not been around as much because of all the members of my family snuffing it lately! Tried to keep up with the challenge and I'd started it and didn't want to let anyone down :) Don't have a great deal to add lately but I'm keeping my beady little eye on what everyone is up to :) I also didn't realise that so many of you were not in the split threads! That seems like an even better reason to stay together and personally I think it works just fine like this and have never wished to split it either :)

Now, who's into knitting? Kirstie's Homemade Homes has inspired me to knit again! I am so bad at it, holes every where but determined to master it and knit some cute cushion covers for my new abode :) :T

Hello Everyone - I'm addicted to this thread even though it's sometimes a struggle to keep up with you all so please keep it as it is - I love it - I try to be thrifty & gifty but end up more of a spendy! I'm learning all the time......

Jammy - my knitting expertise is just about the same level as Kirsty's! dishclothes at school many years ago is about as good as can manage. Paddingtondoo is probably your best bet.

When I was 14.....back in the 80's when batwing jumpers were a la mode and chunky needles were hip and happening I knitted a bright red jumper and proudly wore it OMG! From a wee girl I would knit and sew for my dollies. My knitting tension was always loose, when I was pregnant with grumpy son I decided I would knit my baby a pair of mittens.......they were huge and would have fitted a 6 year old child with strangely large hands! I did however sew the curtains, nappy bag and a beautiful blanket for his moses basket and all my curtains for every house but this one.
My sewing machine isn't working and I do keep meaning to get it overhauled as I see things in shops and think ,'nah , i could make that!'

Beautiful morning at the moment , not really my plan to be up this early but little kitty cats woke me up so it was better to get up and feed them than to listen to squwakkie cats!

me and dd2 will go for swimming lesson (her not me) and hopefully I can get to catch up with my friend, feels like ages since I was there.
Photo choosing session this afternoon and need to continue in the quest for a cleaner and shinier home lol! Did my bedroom yesterday, so big improvement there.

Anyway waffle over, I'm glad we are staying as we are a bit thrifty , a bit gifty but a whole lot nice!

I can't knit (or sew). When I was pregnant with DS2 I got a thought in my head that I was going to knit him a blanket. I found an easy pattern, got my needles and wool and managed 2 squares of a patchwork blanket and then gave up. I was very slow and not very good, did you see that lady on the channel 4 home programme knit, she was amazingly fast :D

Hope everyone has a good day. My two boys were up early so I got up with them so OH could have a lie in. Aren't I nice :p

Mary, lovely to see you here, you should post more ;)

Have to confess to being a bit of a lurker on here...........I'm amazed at some of the ideas you all come up with.
The magazine one.......well I've only got one.........1953 Home Companion (knitting patterns, short stories.....that sort of thing). Think Mum kept it with it being the year of the Coronation. I did type it into e bay but nothing came up so I kept it just for historic reasons really.
I try to be thrifty -needs must - not so good on the money neutral thing though..............still, can't be all things.
Desparately need some cheap ideas for christmas presents -think everyone had a pot of gold and flannel reindeer last year.............lol

Rusty - sciatica is very painful - I had that the other year......stupidly tried to shift a flower tub full of soil.............pain killers made me feel I was on a different plant so I went to local aromathery massage lady. I could hardly walk and it took six weeks to get right (won't mention the £25 a time..........) but it worked so was worth the expense.

rainmac - how awful for you........had that happen to me once - most embarassing even when you know youre right and the moneys in the bank.
Glad your Mum's getting on ok. Bit of an ordeal for her.

Will pop in more regularly in future. You're all having such a fun time.............lol:rotfl:

I didn't see you pop up Mary, lovely to see you here :D

I have no idea what I did to set my leg off back in december ... but doc says that is probably why my back was so painful the other week she also moaned I had left it so long etc. I would love to try some kind of alternative to painkillers as I hate taking tablets and also I am rubbish with them! but money is the key problem here at the minute otherwise I would go for it!

    Morning everyone :D

Hope everyone has a fab week ....

I have just had a panic moment where I thought I had forgotten my Uncles birthday so scrambled for the phone. My Gran answered the phone and told me I had the wrong number :( (she has alzheimers) and then my uncles mum came on the phone and said my aunt and uncle had gone away for the weekend (uncles mum is fine and stays with gran occasionally). Quite upsetting that gran doesn't recognise my voice :( but I guess she doesn't mean it and certainly doesn't know she is doing it! Anyway I have managed to find my calender which OH had moved and his birthday was actually in March not May :rotfl: so now I know I remember giving him his pressies aswell ... think it may be me catching alzheimers!!

I am going to go and make up a card for my mums birthday in a few minutes with my new stash ... not sure how it will turn out but fingers crossed it will be ok!

Hope you all have a good weekend :D

    xx

Aww Rusty - I think if your Gran saw you she would probably recognise you, but hearing a voice can be quite hard. My Auntie knew me as "the big one, Sally's girl" in the end! The big one because I'm the eldest and Sally is my aunty so she wasn't quite right there but she still knew we were related! It is very sad though, it is extremely upsetting for the family, if you visit her go through old photos and talk about old times, her memory will be clear as a bell on them! (are bells clear?? where have I got that saying from??:D)

Well well well, we do have some good knitters on here don't we.. you'll be sorry you owned up to that by the time I've finished with you all :D I like sewing too but have never followed a pattern, just went for it! I managed to sew a baby's bib aged 12 and it looked really good, but I would love to sew my own curtains. I have an original 1950's Singer sewing machine which probably needs a service, which makes me wonder if I should just buy a new one, you can get good ones under £100 these days.

I knitted at Guides, squares to make blankets for the special care baby unit....they didn't want my squares as they had that many holes in them :( I'll show them though!! I would love to knit as fast as that woman on TV!!
