Hello all and belated Happy Birthday Marg ! :j
Hope you had a good day and it carries on through the weekend.

Don't think I dare commit myself to the heating challenge...........I gave in middle of October last year - I tend to feel the cold a lot (old bones ??)
but you can't beat warm feet for making a difference............I stick my socks on the radiator before I put them on - oh what bliss !!

Trying to be megga thrifty as far as pressies go and found a rather ethnic colour woolly hat thats too small and just got shoved in a drawer. Anyone got any ideas what I could turn it into ? Mustn't involve anything that can't be hand sewn though as I dont have a machine.

Oh well, onwards and upwards as they say.................:rotfl:
    Mary

I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Happy Birthday for yesterday Marg. Hope you had a nice day :)

Furry - I shall join in your heating challenge. We never have the heating on in our room and turn it down low in the back bedroom (don't want my hamster to get cold) but I think i'll switch it to hot water only now. My mum will be pleased, she's one of these people that are never cold and has her windows open all year round, she always moans at me for having my heating on all the time, it's not like she has to pay the bills! :rotfl:

I've been in a sulk with OH this morning, over something daft he did last night but we made up before he went to footy. I was so grumpy, I couldn't get back to sleep so got up about half 9 and did loads of cleaning! :rotfl: So glad my sleeping has sorted itself out. Don't seem to need as much sleep as I did a few weeks ago.

We both tried making a card yesterday, I didn't get very far at all but OH's was shocking! :rotfl: I'm like, er yeah that's lovely babe, well done! :rotfl: He was only doing it to keep me company so I didn't want to hurt his feelings!

Really looking forward to the Hatton fight tonight, looks like we'll be camping in the living room, don't think it's on til the middle of the night.

Anyway going to go and find some food, must do some shopping, seriously running out of food! :) xx

Hello, have been lurking trying to get motavation to make more gifts and cards. Does anyone else use wallpaper samples to make cards?
Rusty - ask your doctor if you can get acupuncture on the NHS, doesnt always work but if free its worth a go. I found it very helpful.
Jamtart6 - If your Singer sewing machine is one of the heavy metal ones get it serviced, costs around 15.00. I love mine wouldn't swap it for the world as it sews really thick material which a lot of modern machines can struggle with.

Got my motavation now, off to make sweets for friends bday pressie. Thank you.

Welcome to the thread mrspoppycat, we are all alightly mad and crazy but we all love each other and give each other support 24/7 :D

I have used wallpaper samples on door hangers which I have made but I struggle with cards, so only really just starting to get into it :)

Will have to ask about the acupuncture as I never thought about anything like that!

Can we see some pics of your sweets?

Happy belated bvirthday Marg, hope you had a fantastic day xxxx

We have been out all morning, went down to south shields where we met up with OH's friend and his 3 kids (all girls ) his mrs had to work unfortumately but I got to sit and cuddle up to an 11 week old baby :D:D:D We had a lovely picnic, played in the park, and then went to the funfair and had a go on a few rides (OH used his MSE brain and got a discount of 25% for the tickets by sending a text message before we went in to get a discount code ;))

I am absolutely worn out, I have a beetroot face from sunburn and I have work in about 3 ish hours  ... might try and have a nap on the settee :D

    Welcome mrspoppycat :hello:

Rusty - good idea of mrspoppycats to try acupuncture, I tried it, I didn't like it, the thought of having the pin things sticking out of me just went right through me, even though it didn't hurt. I did have about 4 sessions but felt it wasn't working so gave it up.

Also i've seen an Osteopath (sp?) he used to come round, massage my back for a bit and then crack my back, I hated that too! That just made me feel a lot sorer afterwards.

I think physio and yoga have been the best things for it but can't do yoga if it's too bad.

The only thing my doctor will refer me to is physio, it might be different in your area but if I want to try anything else, I have to go private. He won't even refer me to a Chiropractor!

    Hellooooo!
Welcome Mrspoppycat - like rainmac said we are a little bonkers but we all manage to type wearing our straight jackets :rotfl:.

I'm worried about you furry was I really reading a thrifty posted by you? Or is it some sneaky way to get more funds for craft stuff without having to eat bread and dripping for a month? :D.

Our heating went off 2 weeks ago but I've noticed that the hot water is incredibly hot now so am not using as much of that either. Didn't know that leaving water in the kettle causes scale so will try that one as well - we had a bbq tonight so didn't even use the cooker for tea ;). Not sure how long into the winter I'll last as I'm always freezing and we live in a really old house with a proper chimney so lose heat that way sometimes I have to go outside to warm up :rotfl:.

Anyhoo tackled the front garden and removed the weeds from the front wall - now have absolutely no room in either of the bins and we took a car full of carp to the tip but can't see any difference in the garage. I'm going to try and tidy up in there a bit tomorrow but am frightened all the strategically balanced piles might collapse on me.
Have left OH asleep in the garden will go and wake him up in a bit but will look at my creativity mag first in peace :D.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

Marg It is definitely fine to turn the heater on in one room! Must admit we did that last year all of us including the cat huddled together in the lounge with the gas fire on! Was quite good for us as forced us to be together so we did things as afamily which was great!

Belated Happy Birthday for yesterday too hope you had a fabby day xxx

Can definately say we have been thrifty with the gas fire not being on - we had the fire condmended 3years ago, and although we had central heating replaced, far to expensive to get new fire, (not the actual fire, have to have back boiler taken out, and work done)........ so it now collects dust!!
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Welcome mrspoppycat :hello:

Fluffypig I have been a really good choccy and refused to put the heating on... I took part in the other challenge on old style and managed right up till the end of November. Then only put it on an hour at a time !! I was very thrifty back then :rotfl: Heatings not been on here since the NEC meet other than a couple of hours here and there. In our deffence though our house if very warm anyway and we just managed 4 years without heating as the boiler had broken. So we are right tough nuts in the cold ;)... Im up for a challenge ...especially one i know i have a chance with :rotfl:

Huge hellos to everyone Sorry not to mention everyone by name.. Im on new pain medication and its completely knocking me for 6.:o. Ive read through but cant remember everything. So appologies to you all .

    xx

Furrypig, I think your challenge is really brilliant. My house is ridiculously draughty even though I had loft insulation, a new roof and sealed all my doors and windows. Our heating is always on at night  I salute you for your determination :D
