:j It is so good to see that the forums are a help to loads of people like you, if you look on a lot of the recipe links there are lots and lots of ideas for freezing meals and if you get into the habit of menu planning and doing shopping lists you can say you are beating the system.
While you are still in work why not try to stockpile a few bits that you use all the time, like soap powder, softener, shampoo etc and cupboard stock like, Rice, Pasta flour, sugar and tinned foods - it really does help when things are tight.
Try using frozen veg it works out cheaper than fresh sometimes-things like frozen peppers and mushrooms are handy and you just use what you want without fear of it going off
I have all sorts of HM ready meals in my freezer such as beef stew, lamb stew, beef curry, chicken curry, chilli, sausage stew and sausages in a bolognaise sauce to add to pasta, chicken stew, beef broth, lasagne, spag bol sauce, shepherds pie and HM pies and cakes all ready just to pop in the oven at short notice not only does it save time in the kitchen in the long run it saves on Electric / Gas when you are making 4 of the same meal in one pot. Well done and keep it up it is so easy when you get into the swing of it :TBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Hi everyone :hello:
DH came home from work yesterday clutching a huge bouquet of flowers (Tesco Finest - I checked that he got clubcard points), but they were for me to look after until Kylie Minogue came round to pick them up. Needless to say, she hasn't turned up (the ungrateful woman!) so I "may as well" keep them!
It's been our town's Farmers' Market this morning, so we have made the most of it! One lady always makes the most divine pies and although she hadn't made our favourite, we've managed to break free and try something else.DH is cooking fillet steak tonight, so that was bought from our lovely local butcher. It's 6 years today since we first got together, thanks to 2 bottles of red wine and one bottle of port
.
Lunch was a very OS tomato soup (I really MUST be brave enough to make a "leftovers" soup one day).
I've got a few bits listed on ebay, which are all ending tomorrow. Two of my five items have got bids on them, so I'm crossing my fingers that a) those two will rise in price and b) the other 3 items will sell! I've also got a long list of people wanting to swap on www.readitswapit.co.uk so I need to sort them out too!
Have a good day everyone! :beer:Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Hi all - been busy this morning helping DS2 dig out his old fence posts - we've left him concreting in for the new ones and DH will go round tomorrow to help him finish the job off. We were going to go round this afternoon but decided to make a start on it earlier.
I have lots of Valentine choccies to eat - I'm trying to save them until this evening.
Anyway, I'm going to have a laze on the sofa now, will catch up later.

Hello everyone - nice bright cheerful day here - had the windows and balcony door open for a bit earlier on to air the place out.
Thriftlady - so, not just me that uttered a gleeful "Oh GOOD!" when I heard the welsh team news on the radio last night then?!
Been to the farmers market this morning - got two big packs of mince, two packs of bacon, two packs of sausages, a big lump of pork for sunday lunch and I should think most of next week also, and some venison liver which has gone straight into the freezer. The lamb lady didn't have any liver so the venison man next door got our cash instead! Came home, grabbed a cheque for paying in (The refund for the ticket from the German speedway Grand Prix I went too in October which got cancelled) and went round to the bank to stick that in, then popped into sainsburys for the apples and value peppers I couldn't get in Mr T's. Anyone else having problems getting value peppers in Tesco at the moment? They seem to have stopped doing them locally. Anyway, I discovered that Mr S's tom puree is the same price as Lidl so that saved me another trip. Dropped Mr EH off at the rugby club and then came home and attacked the kitchen as I wanted to tidy it prior to taking some picks for the "This is where the OS magic happens" thread! (No, they're not on there yet, but they will be later!) Now I've had my lunch and am about to go out and try to find the chinese supermarket I think. I had Mum with me last time and her sense of direction is better than mine - I'm fine with multi-tasking but driving and trying to work out where I'm going at the same time is sometimes beyond me.I need vinegar and 5-spice powder but will no doubt return with other interesting goodies.....
We don't do valentines day at all - I always say I'd rather be appreciated all year round than on one day 'cos someone tells him too! He's also lovely about buying me flowers etc sometimes if he knows I've had a rough day or I'm down about something. Neither of our families does Mothers day either which is a slightly stranger one - most people do, but neither of our Mums ever wanted to.
Right - I shall go out and get lost I think.....then when I get back I shall make a start on batch cooking bolognese and make some muffins for tea ahead of the rugby starting, hopefully!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Ooooo, that sounds pretty good. wouldn't have thought of putting vodka into pasta, but I may have to experiment with some very lovely honey vodka I have at home (I love having polish friends)
Scotland are doing pretty blinking well so far aren't they! I'm English but I have a wholle lotta Scottish family so I'm rooting for them!!

Morning peeps
Later i plan on making the cabbage gallete recipe, i see that you have made this Apple_mint - as i read it the bacon, eggs etc is actually mixed into the pastry, is this right? or is it just me mis-reading? i`d appreciate it if anyone who has tried it can let me know please.
SD
Yes, everything but the cabbage is all stirred together. I put a little less milk in (200ml) and use chopped bacon pieces and if I have some leeks I slice them in instead of the onions. Sometimes I add some sliced mushrooms. I particularly like to add some grated mature cheddar. It's one of those mixes you can add bits and pieces to and it just comes out tasty. OH loves eating it cold with HP sauce
Tip: I cook mine for 10 minutes longer than it says - for some reason it takes a little longer in my oven. You know it's done when it's a lovely golden brown on top.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -

Well, I think we may just have to agree to disagree - seeing as I'm a Bath fan:rotfl:
And I normally support the 'someone else' if I'm honest, but the 'someone else' is France:p2019 Aim: Save £10,000
