As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Good morning OS friends,

Cold but crisp here this morning, so big mug of tea by my side and a knee rug keeping me cosy.
Squiggly - I will pm you the recipe either later today or tomorrow for the ginger cake - it's really easy!
N9eav - I think your OH is wise to take the job, even if it isn't what she wants right now.
Halight - good luck with the friend and the application form hon
Sybil - you didn't say why you didn't go to the toddlers group, but I really think it would be good for both of you to get out for a walk this weekend, even a short one, LB would love it, I bet, and you and he are so much more important than housework!
Redruby - stay wrapped up warm honey, and I hope you feel better soon
Sunnygirl - Your daughters boyfriend is very very lucky to have you. It's so sad to think his mum could be like that.
Treacle has already been fed this morning but she is now walking over the keyboard and she smells gorgeous! last night she fell asleep under the clothes airer and the washing powder smell has transferred to the top of her head so as I kiss her, she smells like baby powder!
OH worked and slept and worked today so it was very quiet. He is really enjoying the lemon sponge I made though while I am ploughing through the ginger cake like it's the last one I will ever see!! Today will be busy with washing and drying the laundry. OH fancies something with mince so might make a huge bolognaise or chilli, depending on my mood.
Have started to worry a lot about the mortgage. When we took the interest only mortgage out, we took out an ISA each that would mature the year the mortgage ended and should have covered it all. With only six years to go, the ISAs not only lost money in the last 12 months, they are only worth slightly under 1/3rd of what it should have been. And I have no idea what to do.
Anyway, I have talked too much as ever, so will go and plough through my emails.
Warm, gentle hugs

Morning all :hello:
This time, I'm up early. After being up for 33 hours I managed to sleep for a whole 9
Happy Valentine's to those who celebrate it
Plans for today:
bank in the morning (to deposit £37 that's just fallen on our laps, plus £7 in pennies)
Batch cooking in the afternoon
Relaxing with OH in the evening
Sunday will probably be the same, just replace bank with cleaning
Have a great day everyone :hello:
Edited to add: I just had a quick look at yesterday's thread and want to say thank you for all the support. Like I always say, just finding someone who believes FMS exists is a breath of fresh air!
Also to ask: Where can I buy a cheap pumice stone?GC March Wk1 £28.72/£30 Wk2 £28.4/£29

Good morning. Another early riser!
we take my dd2 to swimming lessons this morning and the older 2 will have a swim after that.
Usually catch up with my friend for a chat after swimming lesson.
I need to hoover and wash floors and might even try a bit of de-cluttering . I used to be a terrible clutter bug but when we moved to this house I really made an effort and got rid of loads of stuff but somehow it creeps in! I hope to do a car boot sale in the spring.
I hope you all enjoy Saturday and if if you are celebrating valentines hope it's a good one!!0 -
Good morning guys.
I have been up since about 4.30 having slept through most of yesterday (my poor house looks like a nuke has dropped on it   ) I helped look after one of our clients on Weds. with D & V and allthough I was gloved, gowned and all of the rest of it I have still managed to pick up a dose. Fortunately it was a school day yesterday and the kids needed minimal input.
I am feeling a tad better today and am not feeling frozen and sick, allthough my belly is still very tender.
Today plans are minimal, I will potter around and tidy up, throw a couple of washes on, feed the kids and that's probably about it.
Gentle hugs to all in need today.

Good morning all.
Mellika - I'm glad you managed to catch up on some sleep. I'm also glad you've found some support. It's horrid not to be taken seriously, isn't it?
Re: pumice stones. You should be able to buy them in a pharmacy; and, if you have a local Savers, they sell cheap ones that look like little oblong sponges. They're in bright colours and cost about 75p. I get them for my DH because he uses lots of different paints and stains in his work.
Redruby - hope you start feeling better soon.
Smokybabe - I hope you are feeling better today.
MSD - there's a mortgages board here somewhere that may be able to help with your mortgage worries.
Well, yesterday was a funny day in the end. DH was home supposedly getting on with some quotes but he suggested we visit our nearest town (for the exciting task of getting ourselves some new slippers!). We thought we'd go in the morning, but got so many interruptions that we ended up going late afternoon. It's been a while since we've been to the town (I can usually find all I want in our village or the next one), but we couldn't believe how many shops have closed or are closing down. It makes the place look very sad. We'll soon end up with very little choice about where to buy the essentials.
Anyway, today, DH has to look at another job he's been asked to quote on. He has a few quotes to do which is a day's work in itself (for him and for me, who has to type them up), with no guarantee of getting the work, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. This afternoon we are visiting DS2 and DIL (mother-to-be!); DH will help DS2 repair his garden fence and I will sit in the warm with DIL and talk babies!
Dinner tonight will be a quick chicken curry and rice and I'm not sure what pudding will be.
Hope everyone has a great day!
(((Hugs))) to all those in need.

Morning All
Up early has had work phone call but thats ok, feel uurrrgh if I have a lie in anyway.
Not sure what is happening today, might take DD into big town to get her hair cut & have a look about (need some bits from boots) but I really need to get on with some paperwork as we are meant to be having days out for the next couple of days.
Whatever else happens I will be doing loads of washing - house is clean so no worries there.
Mioliere - I know what you mean about shops closing, our nearest town has had loads so they are holding an emergency meeting to decide what to do- at the moment its full of coffee shops and estate agents.
Anyway off now for a surf, have a great day.

Good morning everyone
Awake bright and early again, I've been reading the newspapers online and now popped down to MSE. It's the weekend, our favourite time of the week. OH and I really love Saturday and Sunday. We go for walks, potter around the kitchen and do all the OS things we love.
Today we are going to go and get some more bird feeders. We have a peanut feeder (with the peanuts going down at a real pace) and a little hanging tray with loose food on. We are going to get some seed feeders too. We get a lot of pleasure out of watching all the different varieties of birds coming to feed just outside our living room window.
I've been soaking some dried butterbeans overnight. I was buying canned but they've gone up a lot in price so I thought I'd try the dried version. I've just looked at them in the bowl and there's a huge amount. Much better value. I'm going to freeze the excess.
Yesterday I made Gingham Ribbons Cabbage Galette - a firm favourite in our house. We'll have this for lunch, cold, with some pickle and salad. Dinner will be cold sliced pork (leftovers from yesterday) with roast mediterranean vegetables. Desert is going to be stewed rhubarb and HM yoghurt.
Have a lovely OS day everyone. (((Hugs))) to those who need one.Enjoying an MSE OS life0 -
G'day possums,
I'm back.We had a lovely time on our cruise. Went on as passengers but came off as cargo. Diet and exercise on the top of the must do list.
DGS had a ball. Loved kids activities onboard. NZ was lovely although wasn't keen on Auckland. They all talked really weird.
Been raining all day today which has been pleasant seeing as I've had heaps of washing to do. DD staying tonight and cooking tea for me. DS2 arriving on Monday for holidays. I expect I'll have to look at shopping before then. How come my holiday already seems a distant memory.
Had terrible weather while I was away. I lost a few shrubs from no water. Bad bush fires in Melbourne. A real tragedy. I haven't read the threads but I hope everyone has been well and happy. ByeeeeeeeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Thanks Kathy, will be going to Savers today

Morning all,
been awake since 5ish, gave up around 6.30 to go & get a cuppa, but hoping I might doze back off in a little while.
MSD, thank you, I look forward to it!!! Can't offer much in the way of constructive advice re the mortgage, other than try the mortgage board too. Hopefully you will be able to get something sorted & reassure yourselves.
Smoky & Redruby - hope you both feel better soon. Look after yourselves & stay snuggled up warm indoors if you can.
Kathy/EssexGirl - I went into town for the first time in ages the other day & also noticed quite a few places that have disappeared. As you say, soon we won't have a choice where we go. I hope things pick up for us all very soon.
AppleMint, I love that "weekend feeling" as well, just a chance to chill-out, potter & bake.... Are you still reading the Housewife49 books?
Edit to say Welcome Home Aussie!!! Glad you had a good time - holidays always seem a distant memory the minute you get home again sadly.... The news re the bush-fires is horrendous. I can't begin to imagine how it has been.
Today is tidying/cleaning day, need to hoover everywhere, clean the bathroom (and get the waste pipe under the bath sorted - something is leaking somewhere so we can't take the plug out!), move some of the clutter that's gathering everywhere & perhaps see if I can buy some spring daffodils or tulips to brighten the place up!
Fed up with DD's not doing much (as always), and stropping everytime I ask them to do one thing (usually only to unload or load the DW). The thing they tend to notice is where there are no goodies available to eat, so I may be going on strike....
((((((hugs))))))) for all those needing them. Have a good day all.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning all
I've been up since 5, as I was asleep by 9 yesterday having worked myself to a standstill I even ended up dragging tables & chairs round the staff room, I was not impressed, if I'd have wanted a job shifting furniture I'd have applied for one!
No really plans for today, apart from making sure my new Sat Nav is working ready for DD to use on Monday, I'll see what hubby wants to do later.
I am still receiving a postbox full of letters every day from where I changed banks, despite me:-
A) having the money to pay the billspaying said bills by card &
C) resetting all my DD's
Every company I deal with has sent me at least 4 letters each saying, thank you for your payment, we haven't received your payment, your DD has bounced & thank you for your new DD instruction, usually all produced on the same day!
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - egg on toast
Tea - probably HM fish & chips
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
