Thought they had 'gone over to the weird world of silly' too.
Aaaah, the quickshift/sprintshift stuff - dunno, got one booked next month in That Majorca so I hope not... Think they are getting better though - have seen some good reviews of the latest Renault robo-clutch box (in Motorhome-land).

[edit] Beat you to the research - looks like at least the smaller engines have 'EasyTronic' http://uk.cars.yahoo.com/car-reviews/car-and-driving/vauxhall-corsa-easytronic-range-1002564.html - may give a test report if I survive...
  • I bought an Aygo last year and very impressed with it.

Because not currently owning a car does not mean a) that I know nothing about them and b) that I don't want to help other people with that knowledge.

By your logic I could ask what you are doing on a motoring thread because you know nothing about cars as you're a woman..... duh!
    And your point is?

Face facts buddy - who else came up with a small car that is a fully automatic? It wasn't you........ it was me......... :D A Woman!! Horror or horrors!!

Get over it, male pride is a hideous thing - you only have to look at Goldspangles. But then he is amazingly cute ;) which makes up for his other male deficiences. :o

Manual. I think the auto can be set to semi-auto or full-auto.

A great thread that you started! Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Allegedly :D , Toyota will be changing the manual/auto box in the Aygo shortly - mainly because it is cr*p - guess Peugeot and Citroen will follow suit but haven't heard that rumour - yet.... and they are awful to drive, the hesitation of changing gears is awful - it is better if you change gear yourself and that kinda defeats the idea of 'auto'!!

As said the only small car with a fully automatic gearbox is the Polo - haven't checked out the Corsa yet, so I say 'only' - only one I know of at present.

If you go up to say, Focus size vehicle, then there are alot more fully automatic cars to choose from.

Right, must get back to sorting out Goldspangles........... he's a tinker..

Aygo is either manual or manual automatic. The manual automatic is a manual gearbox with an electronic clutch they are legally not allowed to describe it as an automatic. You put it in 'E' (autobox would normally be 'D') and away you go... but the hesitation is dreadful......... better if you do the gears manually, which defeats the object of having an 'auto'. It will also not hold on hills like a fully automatic would. Allegedly Toyota are scrapping it and trying out a different gear box.

They are trying to find suitable 'auto type' gear boxes to put in small cars and keep the emissions down. Once you put in a fully auto box in a car, the emissions (and road tax) go up. Which is why I drive one .. :D
