Starting a claim for PPI with Welcome Finance

Hi Everyone!

I have been following this thread for a while now and finally i have had some luck with my claim.
I took out a loan with welcome and stupidly topped it up 4 times. I paid the loan off in full in December 2008 and then found out that i did not have to buy the PPI from them which they told me i must have or i could not have the loan. On the 4th top up they told me i had to have life care & accident cover as well.
In January i sent them the first letter requesting the amounts be repaid to me. I received the response saying they where looking into it, 2 months later i receive another letter saying they need more time to investigate. In April i sent them a letter saying they had 14days to pay or i would be contacting the Ombudsman.
I then telephoned them twice and was given the promise of a call back which never happened.

Anyway i have just received a final response from welcome with a cheque for the full amount of £2434.42 which included the 8% statutory interest.

So there is a light at the end of the tunnel, just keep at them!

That's great news! Just shows that if you're persistant with Welcome, you'll get there in the end.

Well well folks what a difference a couple of months make. I have today had a letter from the FOS and Welcome have admitted they were wrong and are paying me back my PPI. With 8% interest and £200 compensation for any distress they have caused me. I have signed the form and it is on its way back to the FOS and from then on its going to be maybe 8 weeks untill they settle.

I am happy and over the moon. I will be more happy when I can actually tell you the amount that they are paying me but as you know that will only become my knowledge when they pay up.

Keep at them as Welcome are finally admitting that they have beeen doing illegal business and are now paying for their gross misconduct to their customers.

I too recieved letter from FOS today after complaint being with them for 18 months against welcome for ppi, welcome going to settle!.wasnt given a final figure but getting £200 compensation for stress etc. Worth waiting for .

funny thing is got letter yesterday saying still waiting to go to ombudsman then the one today saying they agree to settle, so chuffed.

How long was this actually with the FOS, if you don't mind me asking?
