Hi Yall, lovely bright, sunny and cold day in the emids. I've actually had to tilt the study blinds to keep the sun of the puter screen for the first tie this year. Yay

Washing is on the airer competeing with two cats basking in a sunny patch in the garden. House is clean and tidy and Paid2clicks done. Yesterdays laundry is in family member groups on my bed to put away.

After lunch I will be doing the finances and online banking just to test if I can make myself misserable on sunny days too:rolleyes: Also need to jot a note to the MATHLETTS head teacher and ask to be excused from extra curricular payments and swimming fees due to being a member of the impoverished under class. Will no doubt be called in to eat humble pie and prove destitution first, maybe TM could lend me her gardening outfit for the trip:D

    B cereal
    L Soup and roll
D Orange and mustard grilled chicken, steamed leeks and brocolli, chive and parsnip mash. Pudding: undecided (maybe a milk pud of some sort with raisins and apricots.
    S cereal

Have a good day on and all (((hugs))) to those who need them and :p to those who deserve them (you know who you are) lol. Catch yall later (if I'm spared;) )

  • Good luck MATH with the school - it's amazing how all these bits for school add up. My kids have to provide class tissues, handwash etc as well as the usual gluesticks - aagh the nonstop gluesticks.m Still just got 10 in the Tesco £1 offer so they should last a bit.

Hi thriftlady - great minds obviously think alike - but I don't think I have any relatives in Worcester - but with my family you never know!!

Made t wo recipes from a collection of wartime recipes - rolled oat macaroons and syrup loaf - will post the recipes when they have been tested by ds 1&2 this afternoon, as they were pretty economical to make. Is there a thread for recipes? - as I'm new around here

thriftmonster - take a look at the blue bar just above the top post - lots of links there. There's a fab recipe thread which you can add too.

MATH - I have sent my gardening outfit - but unless you're a size 5, I think you'll have to provide your own footwear :D

Tip for the day: When clearing out the freezer and thus eating bits of food that have languished there for far too long, remember that some things are uncooked!! I, (cos I wasn't concentrating) assumed that my trout fillets were like the smoked mackeral fillets you buy in Tescos - wasn't until I took a big mouthful that I thought "Hmmm - these appear to be raw" Ah well, change of menu plan - sushi and salad for me then :rotfl:

edit - cross posted with Squeaky. See squeaks, you DO get in before us sometimes :D
  • Thanks, the collections look great - definitely some browsing there tonight after the kids are in bed. It's great to find all you other OSers - I always thought I was ploughing my own little lonely furrow

Just on lunch at the moment, lots to do at work but managing to write my shopping list on the side, out every night next week so just need food up until Sunday and then it's going to be an very non OS week of dinners bought at work as I need to get straight from my office over to where we're putting on the show each day.

Got to grips with turbo lister almost last night and have began listing things ready to go on this Sunday so I won't have to deal with payments, packaging etc until after the show.

So supermarket shopping after work and want to pop into Next and Boots too.

Seem to be keeping up more or less with washing and housework at the moment.

Dinner tonight is flan, waffles and beans I think before we go out or maybe after - see how we get on when we get home.

Hope you're all having a good day

This morning I emailed Baco (foil/rainbow bag makers ) through their website as I found a squashed cranefly in between two bags last night
I've recently taken to buying your Rainbow Bags to use for my family's lunches as I've found them most useful and my 4-year-old daughter loves reading the stickers and picking which one she'll have on her sandwiches that day. However yesterday she was helping me make up packed lunches when she found a crushed cranefly between two of your bags. She was most upset as she doesn't like these insects at the best of times, but to find one on a bag she was going to use for her sandwiches upset her alot. She was worried that there might be another one in the box or that one might end up in with her packed lunch.

I understand that sometimes foreign objects can get caught up during the packing process but felt I had to write and complain about this as it upset my daughter so much.

I've just had an email back :D
Thank you for your email. We were concerned to hear of the problems you encountered when using our product.

As one of the largest suppliers of foil and plastic in this country, all of our products are manufactured to very high standards. Regular quality control checks are undertaken in an effort to ensure that all products that leave our factory meet these standards.

We are grateful to you for taking the trouble to bring this matter to our attention and we regret any inconvenience caused.

We would be grateful if you would supply your full postal address to enable us to send some vouchers to you together with a pre-paid envelope in which to return the faulty product/carton for investigation by our Quality Control Department.

Could I just say I'm :j:j:j My (sort-of) New Years Resolution to not just "put up" with stuff has paid off. Before now I would have just wiped the bag down with some anti-bac and kitchen towel and used it for OH's sandwiches ( :shhh::silenced: ) or even thrown it in the bin :o:eek: instead I'm now getting vouchers and an apology from the company! :D:D

Right off to look around ebay for items I want to list ;)

    Afternoon :hello:

I was going to post much earlier today but I was in a really grouchy mood for reasons which I wrote out then decided not to bore you with. Short version: too much to do at work; hate job; can't resign because boss will supposedly be gone soon so it's not worth it; shouldn't resign without another job lined up cos my savings are going so well (should be in five figures by end of 2006 - well on way to deposit on flat, and in excess of the target I'd set myself for how much to save before moving on to next abode which will be more expensive); realisation that (unless I get married which may well happen) both my younger siblings will probably be in a position to own property before me; realisation that I really don't want to be still renting when I'm 30 (in 2.5 years); big work deadline coming up which will ruin Valentine's Day (the first VDay I'll have ever had when I'e actually been with somebody!); boyfriend has man-flu and has twisted his ankle so doesn't want to go to the cinema with me this evening as we'd planned.

As you can see, if that's the short version the long version would not have made thrilling reading.

Anyway, had takeaway breakfast (had a voucher for a free latte so just paid £1.50 for a yummy, squishy raisin pastry); homemade chicken & veg "stoop" for lunch ("stoop" was unintentional - it was stew but I overcooked it and it went all squishy!); dinner will depend on what time I get home, i.e. whether I work late, but will either be filled pasta out of a packet with Asda's yummy stir-thru pesto and a salad (i.e. not very OS) or steamed fish with peas and new potatoes (that's more like it!)

Other things I might try to do when home from work this evening: (1) wash up some lunchboxes (I use one portion-sized freezer box per day but tend to "forget", oh ok, put off, washing them up...), (2) sort out some credit card & ISA paperwork that needs doing, (3) put the WM on, (4) put away my huge heap of clean laundry, (5) sort out all the clothes and shoes requiring mending/dry-cleaning/professional repair, (6) try to sort out some of my clutter, i.e. Ebay/Amazon/Freecycle/Charity Shop/Bin.

Good luck with the school MATH

Good luck at the hospital PP

Welcome to all NEWBIES :hello: :hello:

    Might come back later...

Only a quickie as completely knackered.

Good news is that the clot I had in my right groin has nearly all dispersed.....bad news...I have another in my right leg from above knee about 6-8"long and theres only a small amount of blood going through:eek: dont know what that means, but am seeing consultant next thursday. Specialist this morning has sent all the info through to the specialist.....it dont rain...it pours..LOL.

OT and surveyor came and will be recieving a letter from them in the next week to confirm details, but the walk in shower is all going ahead and my BIL may be able to do it as he's a builder and VAT registered. Will need to get a quote from him.

Got to go as I need to rest, they took quite alot of blood from me and was pricked by several needles....knackered!!
