Katholicos' post brought a lump to my throat, also. Especially as a friend of mine lost her husband very suddenly, in an industrial accident.

We just never know what's around the corner. I hope I don't sound trite, but I always try to make sure my last words to Mr LW when he leaves for work are "I love you".

That took me two read throughs before it occured to me :D what it was. I was thinking about what type of scaffolding could possibly have wires running through it. I had visions of the outside of your house having scaffolding up the side of it with thick wires waving around :rotfl:

Should have had the word 'Boob' before scaffolding sorry!!!!:D :D

    evening all,

Jackie so sorry to hear your sad news, how terrible, hugs to you all x

Sistercas, thanks for the good wishes re dd's test, she thought it went well, but got stuck on a couple of questions, we will have to wait and see, xx

Gave blood today, and I can feel she has bruised me badly, she said she thought she might have done, still I am glad I went it was my 10th donation, and I got a bronze award, and I have helped up to 30 people :T , the poor chap on the bed next to mine fainted and ended up falling over and laying on my bed with me I thought my luck had changed :rotfl: .

I also had a lucky escape this morning when my car slipped on black ice, and I lost control for a while, I ended up in the hedge on the other side of the road  , thank god there was nothing coming the other way, otherwise it could have been much worse, I managed to sort myself out and got to work, but it shook me up terribly :o

Had some good news too, got a small payrise, which will help at the moment, and also a small bonus, which will also come in handy.

Hugs to all, have good evenings xx
  • OMG redruby you were so brave carrying on!

We've had 60 accidents in the county today, they've been sending in ambulances from other counties as they've been so pressed. 6 poor squaddies on their way to Afghanistan ended up in hospital this morning, one of them with severe spinal injuries after their coach crashed. I feel sorry for anyone having to make an early morning journey at the moment.

Sorry to hear everyone's sad news. Just a quick visit while I cook my pork chili. Glad to say we have not had any more snow here since last week so I will hopefully be able to go to my concert tomorrow night.

Am trying to ration my drinking but will just ermm have to finish this ittle bottle of red wine I opened to sling in the chili.Well why not. Havent been out in ages. My monthly book club hasnt run since the members club we used to have it in got flooded in October, there's no footy this weekend and I doubt I will be able to either get or afford a drink as the rock gig tomorrow is in a Chapel so gonna have my wine and maybe a beer later with the film. Been so down this week - might lift me a little.

Laters xxxx Hugs to those who need it. Life can be pretty tough at times but we are strong and have each other xxx

JackieO - so sorry to hear the awful news for your family. Thinking of you

I'm about to go and get the bus to head into town for my early birthday meal - no idea what'll be on the menu, but at least I won't be cooking or doing the clearing up tonight!

    Have a good evening everyone!

    Hi everyone

Jackie-0 - sorry to heard your sad news, and Katholicos you story too. One never knows what is round the corner.

On the brighter side our neighbours out here who had a mascectomy and a voice box removal over Xmas have come out for a weeks break before they start their radiotherapy. The weather has made a drastic improvement with all the cloud disappearing and lovely blue skies and sun allow us to sit and enjoy it, it was over 20 on our patio this afternoon. The forecast is looking good for anyone managing a break over here for half term.

Hope you are all keeping warm, and the snow clears soon for you all, especially Twink & Pixie, and that you are all OK with the floods. Hugs to the Aussie's.

You need to wait for AussieGirl's return for her i(n)famous letuce soup recipe:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

So far have done minimal buying while out here, but been using up from the freezer.;)

redruby it's strange how you know immediately whether you will be bruised or not, luckily recently I have had good one, who haven't left a mark.

((Hugs)) also to those job hunting, I know it is bad atm, they have announced short time and possible redundancy at where our DS works, and his GF who left uni with a 1st (hons) degree in June is still looking for paid work (Fashion & Design) who offer "work experience" where all they offer is travel expenses but no salary for long days. After six months they might be offered paid employment.  . I know it sounds awful, but after years in manufacturing industry, it is a relief to know we cannot be made redundant anymore, (we were made redundant 20 months ago and decided to made it early retirement).

    Take care - DG

Twink no offence but if you are oS and MS wouldnt it be better and almost as easy to make your own "ragu" sauce. I have never used these - instead I used tinned chopped tomatoes, add my own dried mixed herbs. tomato puree(sometimes), onion and crushed garlic. To me the very idea of paying £1 and more for these has always seemed nonsensical. My version takes no time at all to do.

JackieO - so sorry to hear your dreadful news. It must have been a terrible shock. Please pass on my condolences to your family.

A similar thing happened in our family 4 years ago when my cousin's husband, 42, collapsed and died in the bathroom after suffering what appeared to be cold symptoms for a few days. Their girls were only 6 and 8 at the time.

My cousin has coped wonderfully despite living a long way from her family and the girls have grown into well adjusted young ladies. I think it has helped that my cousin has always encouraged the girls to talk openly about their dad.

Got to go back to work tonight for a council meeting - would rather stay at home!!

Not done too bad on the OS front today. Being on here is definitely having an effect!

Porridge for breakfast, toasted sarnie to use up some cheese and scrape out the pickle jar for lunch then beef cobbler for tea.

Rearranged the food mountain in the pantry! Determined to only buy fresh stuff that we need for a while. Had 2 NSD's this week.

Washing all done, tea loaf made from Delia's Frugal Food and even had time to practice my songs for the WI Panto!

    Well, duty calls!!

Hugs to everyone who needs them!!
