Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 11 February. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
Good Morning everyone - hope you're all well today?
I've been lying awake in bed for the last while, so thought I would get up and do something more productive.
It's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht here - the moon is casting a lovely glow on the sea loch outside and it's very calm here in the Hebrides, for just now anyway. There's a bit of a frost as well, but I've not been outside yet.
Well, DH's trip to Glasgow went well, but he's now got to wait a fortnight to get the results and to find out what the next step is for his knee - time will tell.
I've got a busy day ahead at work (think that's why I'm awake at stupid o' clock!) and this evening we're going out for a meal as an early birthday celebration with my parents as my DH is away with work next week when I turn 40 next Tuesday!
Can I just say that there's another Valentine's Bah-humbug person here!
We don't celebrate it either - it's a huge waste of money and we share our love the other 364 days of the year too.....;)
Lunch will be soup and a roll and I've no idea what dinner will be. I've got a load of washing in the machine, so fingers crossed I'll get that hung outside later.
Still no news from R Mac about baby? I guess her hands will be somewhat full just now
I hope that anyone in the areas affected by the rain and snow aren't suffering too much? The country's fairly been blasted over the last while.
Have yourselves a good day everyone!

Good Morning! Don't know what I'm doing up so early but my sleep pattern has been a mess lately...
I haven't been around for a while (months, I think!) but things haven't been easy. Still unemployed, for several reasons, but not in receipt of any benefits. On the other hand DH has got himself a new job and has gone from 13k to 20k p/a
We don't celebrate Valentine's Day in my country. At least not traditionally. We have "Dia de los Novios" (BF/GF day) which falls on the first day of Spring
Plans for today: Clean Bathroom, Make food inventory (yes I've fallen off the wagon), go to Post Office & Library.... Amongst other things
Have a great day everyone :hello:

Morning.
All quiet here Cornwall. Fairly dull and wet as usual. We had 45mm of rain on Monday and yesterday was supposed to be sunny, but it rained most of the day. Got that one wrong BBC !!
Bought paint yestersay. B & Q seemed cheapest with 10 litres of Crown white or Magnolia at only £10. Decided on neutral colours as I can't see the point paying through the nose for an 'off white' at £18 a small tin.
Found a few good deals at the discount meat store, like 8lbs mince steak for £7. That will keep us going for a few weeks. Got bacon pieces too, that turned out to be 4 salvagable gamon steaks and enough smoked bits for a nice carbonara which we had last night. £1.69
Work at 12 today, so after dropping the kids off, I shall return to sand all the woodwork and then go to work. Still waiting for the part for my car. Horrendous service, at least I can use my mum's in the meantime. Seems some factory screw up. Hopefully today, but I have no time to put it in as I am working now! Bummer.
Well, OH has some work today, but it's 30 miles away, the life of a supply teacher is not a happy one.

Diva - ((((HUGS)))) for you and Tristan, hopefully he will calm down and be in touch soon.
Fairy elephant :hello:
Moggins - ((((HUGS)))) coming your way too, good luck with your job applications, and even more luck with sorting out your life.
I`ve just caught up with yesterdays thread and had a laugh at the methods for giving tablets to the purry cats:D When we had our last 2 the towel method was preferred but with our present one she will eat almost anything ground up in tuna, it has to be tuna with brine drained off it for some strange reason. I remember Wanabee Sybil posting that fish paste was evil cats weakness for tablet taking. Hope that you are ok Sybil, don`t leave it too long before you are back posting as you and little bear are missed.
MeanMarie - I hope that you manage Luca`s tablets ok and that he is getting better.
HappyRoly - We too have an Amy catI have two big scratches on my hand and one of them is very deep, it bled for almost half an hour after my hand was in between the cat and monster dog when the cat decided that she was going to attack the dog for no reason at all:rolleyes:
Well i made some more soup yesterday so thats lunch for today and tomorrow sorted out and we had hm pizza last night YUM!
Tonight i thing that we shall have omelette and something (not decided what yet) and maybe rice pudding for afterwards.
W8rk calls so i shall catch up later.
Have a good day peeps - keep safe and warm
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Good morning everyone. Hope the weather is not causing too many problems. It rained a lot here yesterday but was not that cold. I really can't wait for the Spring now; I think this winter has gone on for too long.
DH has a cousin in Australia; I didn't realise she lived near where all those awful fires having been raging everywhere. She is about 10k away from them and they have to listen to the hourly bulletins for advice about whether to go or stay. Her mum, naturally, is worried sick and just wishes they would leave anyway. The temperature had cooled yesterday and that was helping, so all we can do is pray. The news from Australia is heartbreaking; so much loss of life and the fear must be dreadful.
Well, I have lots of housework to do today as well as my own work and I feel as if I won't get it all done, so I'll write a long list and just work to a plan, I think. Sometimes, I end up walking around in circles getting nothing done!
I haven't been keeping up with the thread properly so I hope everyone is OK.
No news of R.Mac, I see. Hopefully, she's getting some much-needed rest.
DIL2 has been waiting to see if her teaching contract will be made permanent. Since she told her headteacher that she was pregnant, she's been worried. She was told yesterday that it has been made permanent so sighs of relief all round. It's such a shame that women have to worry about things like this; after all, getting pregnant is the most natural thing in the world.
Anyway, I'd better go and get DH up for work. He has some local work this week and three private quotes to do, so hopefully will be busy for a while. The contract work now is being paid at such low rates that it's insulting to a skilled man. The contractors will end up with no professionals if they keep this up, just youngsters who are still living with parents and can afford to work for such low returns because they don't have families and mortgages. Who knows where it will all end?
Anyway, onwards and upwards, as they say!
Have a great day, everyone; I'll call in later.

Morning all
Very frosty here today & we are on flood watch, partly because of the rain, but also all the melt water. Hubby has a day's work today, so we were up at 5ish. I didn't sleep well, too much going round in my mind, DD1 is trying to do too much & I worry about her, DD2 is going into hospital next week & so I'm worrying about her, still it takes my mind of my job worries.
Readitswapit is still going well, I'm trying to list at least 5 books a day! Of course the problem is, for every book I send, I get one back, lol, so it's not helping me declutter.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - soup
Tea - pork chops for hubby, egg on toast for me.
I hope everyone has a good day
Hugs Hester

Morning All
Its absolutley freezing here and all the flooded water has turned to ice so its treacherous again outthere. Dont have to go out luckily but may take DS to school.
Waited in all day for argos to get a phone call at 3pm saying delivery wouldnt be made coz of the weather, at 6pm had a knock at the door man with my argos delivery. So this morning will assemble my sweeper - it needs to be charged for 16 hours so wont be able to try it today.
Paperwork, housework and ironing today - no change there then.
Not sure what is for dinner - will consult the menu plan.
Have a good day.

My dd has her science test today to see if she can get into the tripple science group at school, she has been studying hard for weeks so lets hope she passes, she needs the tripple science for her choice of job.
I am off to work today, where I will be giving blood, It is very well organised and you are in and out within 20 mins, the ladies and gents who take the blood do a fab job :T
Wll better get on, hugs where needed.

Morning :hello:
It's frosty here, the type that looks fine and twinkly, like glitterI've got my blood test at lunchtime, I love this kind of weather so I think I'll walk to the surgery.
Miss tru had her induction at her new job yesterday, she said everyone's lovely and she can't wait to start properly on 23rd feb.
My ink arrived yesterday, I went printing mad and there's patterned paper all over the lounge so I'll have to sort that out this morning
The washing and ironing is all done and the freezers are full. All I need to do today is buy milk and clean out the boy piggies.Bulletproof0 -
Morning friends
Well it doesnt seem to0o bad weather wise here. In fact I'm sitting at my desk contemplating opening my window:eek: It is either really hot or I'm having a dreaded power surge as DH has started calling my hot flushes. One of the younger Docs at work asked me yesterday during the ward round "so what's it like standing on the dock waving bye bye to the hormone boat" cheeky young devil:rolleyes: It is becoming a standing joke not to stand too close to me as you will get scorched when a hot flush hits. I suppose the good thing is with this lot I have no need to be embarrased.
Warm (((hugs))) to all those poorly or in need, or feeling down.
Special prayers for Diva and Tristan.
(((hugs ))) also for WS and Little bear with his ultra clean teeth.
Dinner tonight isn't particularly healthy:o Scampi and chips, but I have tons of the damned stuff in the freezer from when it was on Bogof. I shall redeem the meal by starting with HM carrot soup and Oakbank apple pud to finish. That will supply some of our 5 a day.
Hester, I have started reading your blog, it has me enthralled. I also must find out about Readitswapit. I am drowning in books and I am making a resolution to stop spending a fortune on them. It must stop as DH is being made redundant and I have enough books at home to stock a decent sized library:eek:
Enough ramblings from me or this will be a novel
