Morning all! :hello:
Huge hugs to all who want or need one :grouphug:
Today my plans are threefold:
1) Clear up the aftermath of last night's pizza party. People loved being able to pick their toppings and cook their own pizzas. In fact, they've left mess everywhere in celebration
2) Re-jiggle budget as I've only just realised the car tax is due at the end of the month
3) Put out 160ish Avon books
Bah. I wish I'd stayed in bed! Dinner is 'white fish' (probably pollack then) marinated in lemon and chilli. I must remember to actually marinate it this time, last time I made it was the first time I tried the recipe, and after mixing the marinade I put it in it's bowl in the fridge next to the fish :wall:
Hope you all have a good day xxx0 -
real os didn`t involve getting fat. Baking cakes and biscuits was a treat and often just for the weekend after a hard week`s work or active play outside for the children. Daily food did not involve all these carbohydrates but was based around stretching some meat or other protein
I get a bit miffed sometimes in the way os has been taken today as though it was the way of life in the old days, it wasn`t.0 -
Sounds like a little OS discipline and self restraint is required. Hark whose talking!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What I do is cook them but not eat them!!! I tend to nibble on the kids ones to get the taste but not too much fat. I follow WW so I usually factor in all the BLTs (bites, licks and taste!) for each day
What I do tho is lick the bowl out as there aren't any calories in raw cake mixture, thats right isn't it?!;)0 -
Morning all!
Cold here, me and the dog need ear muffs I think! Either that or we'll have to take up going for a drive instead of a walk!
OS today is going to be limited as I'm tired and I've got the sniffles and want to see them off before they get worse! Well it's an excuse anyway! I've got the bm going, kitchen is S&S, sitting room tidied, mince defrosting.
Lunch today will prob be nothing for me as I've just had eggs and beans on toast, and I'm planning on going to sleep (hey, I was working last night!), kids had hm rolls with marmite, peach, raisins, yoghurt/jelly, anzac biscuits/choc and orange muffins.
Dinner will be spag bol - meant to be chicken pie but can't be bothered with the fiddling at the mo, so that's going to happen tomorrow!
Hugs to all in need, not caught up properly for a few day, but I shall give it a go later! xxGC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000 -

It's the sugar and butter in the biscuits and cakes that have the calories, so what we need is, erm ............. lettuce and celery :j :T :rotfl: :rotfl:
I'll add this to the Old Style Daily thread.

I don't think I've ever seen anyone claim that on this forum, ever. In fact an awful lot of our old-style techniques here rely on technology, and lifestyle choices, that our grandparents could only have dreamed of!
I think the only answer is the same answer you always hear - balance. The food itself isn't fattening, it's the proportion of calories you eat in comaprison to the calories you expend!
I get around it by baking small batches - and it is usually the baking, for me - and eating a reasonable portion, before storing/freezing what we don't need straight away, or giving some as a gift to a neighbour. After all, frugality/thrift/whatever you call it is about trying not to waste all resources, not just money. I'm not saying it's easy, but feeling virtuous is as good a feeling as getting the last twink's hobnobIf I'm really tempted by something we have around, I brush my teeth. Everything tastes horrible through toothpaste!

Morning all
It's OH's day off today so he's getting under my feet catching up on his telly programmes. I have one more job application to complete and it's the job day in the paper so I have to remember to pick that up later.
R-mac when are we going to hear the news?????
It's really cold here but all the snow has gone, DS fell on ice on the way to school yesterday so he ended up coming home. His school have installed a new phone system where you have to pick one of the following options!! Blah blah! I left a message on the absence line and then got a call from the absence officer later asking why he wasn't at school, I said I had left the required message on their answerphone and she said she couldn't access that line. where exactly is the sense in that? I suggested they may want to review this new system as it obviously isn't working0 -
