Hi everyone!
Have had a busy morning visiting my parents, then going to Halfords to pick up some car spray to cover a few grazes and scratches on my old ford escort which we are tarting up to sell. Only Halford don't do the paint for the car as it is so old so we had to get the nearest match.
We won't get much for the car but other than trying to sell it it would have to go for scrap and we've spent hundreds on it in the past 12 months and is MOT'd till September so it would be a shame for someone not to be able to get some more use out if it. The weather is rainy and dismal here in Staffs so we won't be tarting up the car till the weekend probably though.
I then just called in at Aldi, got about £18 worth of stuff. We have never shopped there until last week. But last week i got some shopping there and didn't tell the kids where the cola, the juice, the toffee waffles, the popcorn, the fortune cookies were from and they just ate them and then i told them i'd shopped in Aldi!
The tomato puree was cheapo in there, but i was surprised how similar some of Aldi's prices were to Morrisons or Tesco's, so i think i will have to be selective about what i buy from there, it's only down the road so if i am passing it is worth popping in for the cola and stuff though.
When i got home i had had a a delivery of a craft parcel i ordered in the Craft Superstore sale, i am absolutely delighted with the contents. I paid only £18 including delivery and i have loads - i only bought it because it was 75% off. Many of the paper pack designs are new too!
For tea I have just got a pack of bacon out of the freezer, we will have bacon, melted cheese and tomatoes, with brown seeded bread.
Rightio, i'm going to go and read through this thread now - then i'm going to go and look at all my craft goodies! Have a good day everyone :-)Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

Afternoon all................((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))) if you need one and especially to JackieO and her family, so sad to read your news.
I decided to go into town this morning, I discovered the other day that one of the new pieces of boob scaffolding I bought had the wire burst through its casing. As I only bought it in November I thought it should last longer than that. Got it changed n problem, she did ask me how I washed it....by hand dear, like you told me when I bought it!!! changed no probs.
I also bought OH a set of hair clippers, it cost him £8 to get his hair done yesterday, I watched how she did it and decided I can do that, so whilst I was in JL had a look and found a Babyliss programmable clipper for £25, so it found its way into my basket.
Walked down to get the bus and came home. OH had been a bit rocky when I was out, and has now given in and gone to bed.......wish they would hurry up with the appointment to see the consultant.
Just had my lunch, cheese and sauce sarnie, an orange and a cuppa..........
Its clear and quite cold out, we still have quite a bit of snow lying and it looks like we are in for another frost tonight. Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Best wishes to JackieO, terrible news for everyone involved.
I've made Veg soup this morning, carrots, swede, onions, leeks, & celery which I had for lunch, it was ok but nothing special but it was 0 WW points so its alright. Had that with a roll I baked the other day. Also made some more bread, put it in the loaf tin to prove and just before lunch thought 'Thats risen loads, I better get it in the oven quick!' then had lunch..... guess what happened.... of course it has risen too far over the side of the tin and down the side!! I've put it in the oven as we speak and its hanging down one side!!! I'm never gonna be on Masterchef at this rate lol! Still I'm sure once I've cut off the offending bits it will be fine and taste as good as ever. I sprinkled sunflower seeds on it too to give it a nutty taste. I've had some wonderful bread disaster from rolls you could build a house with to the best one.... made the dough, put it in the tin to prove, left it on sunny windowsill to while I took LO swimming came back and found a scene from The Blob! It was all down the windowsill all over the sink and a plant!!! If you look really closely theres still a little bit of dried dough where I can't quite clean but I don't tell anyone about that!
Dinner is Chilli made with mince base from the freezer. Cleaning is non-existant atm, LO is here on Tuesday & wednesday so I pretty much only do the necessary. Have got a load in WM needs migrating to TD and another load going on but thats about it os wise.0 -

I am so sorry about sister in law's loss ( or rather her DDs). It is awful at such a young age.
Mudgekin
Your taste in books sounds a lot like mine. I have been selling some of mine through Amazon for a while now and it makes me feel less guilty if I treat myself to a new book now and then (well more than that to be honest!).

Good luck with the job applications.
Sybil
Hug to you and little bear and hope to see you back here soon.
Doorbell has just rung and two huge boxes have arrived from approved food.
Got Baxters and Heinz soups for about 12 pence a tin!!!:j Just the job if DH or DD arrives home early cold and hungry as it will keep them going while the planned meal cooks.
Have got to the point where DH thinks the idea of early retirement some time this year is his.
Desperate to get it sorted out before the firm's pension scheme changes for the worse or the government decides to raid it to pay for the bankers "brilliance"!!!!
Popping out for coconut so I can try impossible pie later. I doubt if anything can surpass the chocolate fudge pud though.
Hugs to everyone and see you later."This site is addictive!"

Jackie O,
I couldn't agree more with you that it is so important to show we love those we love, to never miss a day, to tell them that we love them.
I think many of us become complacent, we assume we will wake up in the morning, we make plans to do things at some point in the future, sometimes pushing family aside to focus on building a career etc, and it is such a shame, because for most of us, without family, life is empty...yet it can all be taken away from us in but a moment.Grocery Challenge for October: £135/£200
