ok im so very confused now;
we had a salesman come yesterday after a appointment was made from a guy who knocked on the door a diff guy came out;
anyways he seemed nice, did quote 5k and we have it now for £2,400 cos we said ok will get it done this thursday at short notice - tbh did expect it to be a sales tactic "if u dont have it this thursday its nearer to 3k"
doing the "showhome" thing and a board outside;
been told get £100 if someone rings up and signs up to it from seeing it outside our house; <- anyone else heard this?
Im in Gloucestershire so he was from the Hereford offices.
Now reading this topic has got me worried because he actually said if we googled them it would bring up their website and then this website a few hits below and recomend it as a great money saving idea.
we are looking to sell up next yr and was thinking it would put some money on the selling price if it looked good and clean etc and with this ten year warranty that is applicable to the house it sounded good.
so basicly this coating? he said it breathes so the house wont sweat etc. is this true?
Our roof is 60 years old and it does need work loose tiles etc; so basicly what i want to know is just 2.5k good to have it cleaned, and fixed, a ten year guaratnee/maintenance, and this coating which is meant to help save money on heating bills in long term, and also will stop moss, bird ecrement etc etc making it look old and tatty.
we are a end terrace - 64 square foot roof.
they are meanna be coming on thurs to clean it and friday weather depending is the coating; so is it worth getting the coating (they do two coats apparantly)? or just ringing up and saying no we want it clean?0 -
i would cancell it at 0900 hrs monday morning if i were you.
read all this thread and then google the company. better to put the 2/3k towards a new roof.Get some gorm.0 -
ok, well its my mum who this is for cos its her house; told her all this but still dont know what to do cos she has said shes happy with what they are gunna do but if its not gunna do anything extra to the roof in long term i dunno?
what exactly was said on rogue traders? ive been going thru google for 2 hours found nothing
ive read this thread its mixed reviews; and most negatives seem to be aimed at the salesmen themselves im a bit worried still about the actually product this hardly seems mentioned.
we are selling up so a new roof isnt a option we are prepared to do; im trying to find out if just to get it cleaned or have the coating still done to.
and if our sales man did lie about the coating being patented where would we stand legally on that matter?
he was the one who told us to look on this site!0 -
rj.
It matters not what company it is.
There is absolutely NO reason for putting a coating on any existing tiles.
If the tiles are porous, one excuse they use, then they need replacing not spraying.
Most opinions on here are against, however, it is your and your moms cash and you can do what you like with it.
As for your roof needing attention, it certainly will after these people have danced all over it!!
If I was going to buy a house and saw this type of coating (same if there was a spray foam coating inside) I would knock the price of a reroof off the asking price of the house (and a bit more as it will be more difficult to strip).
A re roof costs from £45 -£55 per square metre if it is tiles so around £4,000 at the most for a roof your size.
Worth spending the extra??
Definitely, IMHO of course.0 -
Thanks Lewie, we have canceled it now;
With the cost of a new roof being so much less than expect its not anything we are worried about
will contact the council and ask for roofers they recomend tho to come and tidy it up.0 -

Rumours have it that they are being investigated again by offering 15% heat saving with their coating. There are nano-tech coating out there that stop heat estcape on roof, but with all the gaps around the tiles, I am not sure 15% IS ACHIEVABLE. Maybe keeping heat out of the roof space?????0 -
