  • I received an increase of £500 1 month ago. It took 1 year before I was increased from £1000 to £1500 tbh.

They have now said that I get a gold card for reaching £1500 and it will replace my currant card, expecting it in a few days :j

Has anyone ever actually been declined by Vanquis?

Ahem.. - On top of that, they sent the decline via email only... I applied on Tuesday, and got a simple email from them the Friday on the following week, not any other contact attempts (maybe on the home phone, that's hopeless).

Maybe they are trying to filter out those who apply online only?

I'm not on the Electoral Roll yet, and my previous address was for less than a year, so I clicked "0 years".

    Other than that, I'm clear...
    Enjoy the silence...

I have had a set of 4 cheques sent to me twice. Both times they have been binned.

The prudent Mr Cif at his best eh? :D:D

Ahhh, thats the reason! You have to be on E/R to get Vanquis.... i'd be appealing and sending proof of bank statements / council tax etc to prove you are who you say you are this may allow them to override the decline.

Appeal letter template is here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1612333

It has been confirmed by other FMs that Vanquis do indeed call mobiles

I have just been accepted for a Vanquis card, and they called me on my mobile to confirm identity and other details.

Give it a few days - I expect my letter telling me they've been "unable to offer me a card at this time" in the post.

Whenever anyone says "Oh god, <company name> accept everyone" then I usually find I can prove that wrong :D
  • I've just been accepted for Vanquis. They called my mobile to confirm my details and to try and flog me dodgy repayment and ID theft plans. I spat my coffee out when she said the card is 59.9% APR

Just got off the 0800 phone to Vanquis and my account is officially closed :) It feels great. I was told it won't show up on Experian until November as settled but that's alright as long as it does in the end.

Yes, they charge whopping rates (mine was 49.9% APR) but as long as you pay off the balance in full each month you have nothing to worry about. I am grateful I got accepted in the first place because within 2yrs my credit was good enough to go mainstream.

I am now on a card with 0.00% for until middle of next year and only 14% afterwards.

So, don't be put off, use Vanquis smartly and it will work for you!

    Good luck :)
