Hi Guys, Please please please dont go with vanquis. I'm sure you already know but i must shout "HIGH INTEREST RATES" isnt the whole point of joing a forum like moneysavings expert is for exactly that? To Save money? If you're so desperate for a credit card get 1 or 2 store cards spend on them and repay them immediately to build or a credit file for 3 or more months then apply for a high street credit card like a barclaycard classic or Halifax classic or something like that. DONT fall into the trap of Vanquis RIP OFF HIGH APR'S YOU WILL REGRET IT.

    Cheers

A lot of us are not able to get credit elsewhere. Places like Vanquis are all that are open to us.

Of course, your concern about the high interest rate is certainly founded and I think that most of us with these cards are intending to (and do) use them very carefully and use them as a stepping stone in getting "proper" credit again.

Lowest possible limit but im sure they will increase eventually as long as i use it correctly so im not so fussed 'if' they give me a low limit

I will wait to receive the decline letter first as I received the decision on the phone and the guy said i should really wait to get the decision by post.

I still dont understand how people with worse histories get accepted!!!!

I've just sent off my proof of ID docs to Vanquis this morn after receiving a letter yesterday. Hopefully will hear back from them soon with some good news!!!

Oh and thanks for your post Jeepers1, I didn't realise the extortionate APR rates vanquis charge... Maybe I'll just sack off this application and go for a virgin 0% for 18months deal, or why not a BA Gold card so I can get some airmiles?...

    Oh yeah, my credits !!!!!!

    Haha :)

I received a call on my home phone this morning but by the time I got there to answer they had rung off! I then dialed 1471 and was writing that down when my mobile rang:eek: When I answered that, I received a recorded message saying that Vanquis had phoned and would try again, I then sat down to have breakfast and immediately the home phone rang again:eek: This time I got there in time and it was Vanquis:rolleyes: The lady wanted to take me through security, which I agreed to, as long as I took her through it first by her answering a question from my application form:D After several of my questions were declined as being too risky:rolleyes: she agreed to answer one which she passed with flying colours:T She then told me that my application had been aproved:T and proceeded to tell me about the interest rates of 39% Cash advances before I received my card:eek: and the monthly protection and Identity Theft plans, which I declined:rolleyes:

The phone call took 5 minutes and the form filling another three. Not bad for the £25 Cashback from Quidco that is already tracking:T

If you Google this number there are several interesting posts on this link:

I got a call from Vanquis today on my mobile. The sales person told me I had been accepted, welcomed me to Vanquis and then proceeded to sell me some payment protection and got a bit narky when I declined......asked me why I didn't want it?

I almost gave in because I thought she may reverse the decision somehow, but I stood my ground and declined.

Card will be received in 7 days....yipppeeee! :j
