I believe it is more likely Tier C :-

Tier C) Purchase/Balance Transfer annual rate 34.95%, Cheque annual rate 44.95%, Cash annual rate 53.63%

    Vanquis disagrees: http://www.vanquis.co.uk/summary.

Did they offer to give u an amount upfront into your bank? I applied last week and when they rang me asked me about protecting it which i accepted and went on to say thy could make a payment in to my normal bank, i have received my pin now but still no card x

Yea they offered the cash advance which I declined without question!

I also accepted the plan they offer but I'm going to opt out as its a credit builder for me rather than a line of credit so why should I pay them 1.29% every month when I won't be in a position of owing them loads that I can't pay? I'm paying one amount out on it once a month and paying off in full!

I would contact them about the fact you have receive the pin but not the card as generally the card comes first!

  • Hi all
Just come across this thread and really want to start rebuilding my credit. I don't know whether anyone has been accepted with similar background or can say whether I have a possible/good chance of obtaining a credit card from Vanquis with my criteria below?
    Thanks in advance
    • Based on Experian, I have had a credit score of 999 for the past 3 months (I know scores don't really count).
    • I have 3 CCJs on my record. The first was ordered on 20/06/2010, and was satisfied on 15/02/2012. The second was ordered on 10/02/2011 and was satisfied on 18/04/2011. The third was ordered on 19/09/2011 and was satisfied on 21/02/2011. All are cleared and marked as satisfied on my records.
    • I'm on the electoral roll and have been for the past 4 months at my new home.
    • I have 1 credit card status marked as default on my report, but the balance is satisfied - last updated with zero balance and closed on 04/12/2011.
    • My HSBC bank account has excellent scoring, with frequent income going in (my salary is 5k NET per month). I have no overdraft facility. Had this account open for 15 years.
    • I have no recent credit searches on my record. My last search for credit was around 4-5 years ago.
    • I was a homeowner and sold my property 4 months ago. I had been paying my mortgage on time for the past 12 months before selling.
    • Number of missed or late payments in the last year is 1.
    • Number of accounts overdue is 0.
    • Amount of outstanding debt is £0 - I have no mortgage, credit cards, personal loans etc.
    • I have savings (bank saving account & ISA) of 6k - though I understand credit applications do not look at this?
  • Just apply , 1 search wont make hardly a difference if what you say is true! then you'll find out if you'll get excepeted or not
  • Thanks for the reply.

Just wondering on previous experience for people - I now have 0 payments late or missed in the last 12 months. The only outstanding item I have in the last 12 months now is a settled CCJ, which was settled on 21st February 2012.

Should I wait until 22nd February 2013 to apply (meaning this last CCJ was settled over 12 months ago), or does it not really matter?

I just know / have read some companies do not want any CCJS / missed payments still outstanding in the last 12 months...

    Thanks.

Got my card today \o/ with a £500 limit, didn't expect that much.

Also interest rate is monthly purchase 2.839% and cash is 3.433%, what is the APR?

Same as mine: Purchase interest of 39.94% APR. Don't know about the cash interest APR because I generally ignored that bit because I'm not silly enough to get a cash advance.

suarez07, I think you will be rejected due to the very short time at your present address - 4 months. But there's no harm in applying, all they can do is say an emphatic "NO!" but they might approve your application.
  • Just noticed this on my Vanquis account - 30 Nov 12 EX GRATIA £5.00 CR

i wasn't expecting it, and in all honesty wasn't going to spend anything on the card this month because i want to close the thing - i've got a direct debit for the full amount coming out next month, will this put my account into credit or will the DD be reduced accordingly?

anyone else had a £5 ex gratia credit in the last week?
  • Been accepted!

Applied at 4.30pm yesterday online, had a call at 5pm to confirm details I had already entered in, and they said I've been accepted with £500 starting limit / 39.9% APR - with card and pin coming to me in the next 7-14 days!

Had to cut them short a couple of times with the PPI hard-sale speech, but all done n' dusted.
  • Congratulations happy days!
