Getting fed up of these phoning now.

I have an APPALLING credit history but want to try and repair it. I have applied to Vanquis to help build it back up and accepted and offered £100 cash advance so i assume probably a £150 limit card. i didnt take the advance or their policy and plan on just paying the full balance each month by direct debit. Others have said on here to just pay it by card online before the due date but is a direct debit fall-proof so i dont get a late payment etc.0

I wouldn't know, I don't do DD's, I have been stung too many times by them.
Personally, I have my VANQUIS card statement date to the 1st of the month, I then know that at the beginning of the month I have to go online and pay the bill (at least the minimum payment) and then the rest before the due date.I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -

Whether a DD is fool-proof depends on how much of a balance is on the card and which option you choose: Paying the minimum payment doesn't take account of the estimated interest and paying the full amount may not be flexible enough at times when your available cash is low.
Personally I don't do DD and like the previous poster I make a payment on the day I receive my paper statement and usually the rest of the balance before the due date - except for this month because cash is low due to impending Christmas. But I'll clear the whole balance in January which illustrates my point about flexibility.0 -
Just a quick question....
I looked on my Evanquis on Saturday and my first statement had been produced. I logged onto my bank and set up the payment details and did a "faster payments" for the full amount.
How long should it take for it to show up on Evanquis that I have made the payment?
I used the card again on Sunday for a small amount in Tesco - I presume my full payment (from my statement on saturday) wont be affected as this transaction was after the statement date or should I pay that now too?
I dont want to affect my credit file by a silly mistake!:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

The payment should of cleared yesterday.
So long as you have cleared the balance printed on your statement in FULL, you will incur no interest, assuming there are no cash advances etc.
Transactions you make since your last statement will appear on your next statement.
Try and keep your statement balance less than 50% of your limit.I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

It's not showing as cleared with Vanquis - hence Im a bit worried! It's definately left my bank as shows on my online statement!
No cash advances....no way hozay!
the first month of having the card I only used 10% of my limit and cleared in full! (Well Im hoping...as its not showing up!):jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

It should definitely be cleared overnight tonight, it is showing as available to spend???
I did likewise, just used 10% but I will ensure my balance is only ever recorded below 50%...so even if I do spend more, I will get it down before the statement is produced.I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.

No it's not showing as available to spend.....as it looks online it's that I've still spent it, when I've paid it....Hopefully It will show tomorrow!:jEngaged 25/12/11 :j

if you do a faster payment on the weekend it can take up to a few days for them to update your balance. However, you don't need to worry as they take the date the payment was credited rather than the date they could be bothered to update their records. so it will show that you paid on 15/12.0
