Well i'm past 5th statement and still no increase :(

As I said above I don't think you are using the account correctly to warrant an increase yet.

There is no correct way of using it.

Paying off in full = Still boring money off them until you pay them back
Paying min - Boring money until you pay it back, paying interest and looking like you have money issues
Paying min + more on top = still borrowing money, Paying interest and not looking like a complete skint !!!!.

Either way you are borrowing money. I tried paying in full with Cap one and no increase so changed tactic with vanquis to min + atleast 50 on top also almost maxing card to try force it..

Might be wist to phone them and ask for a bump to 1K with a deposit of £750 from me as im not skint and dont need the card but the reason im so wanting an increase is i need to rent a car/van and i can't on debit card and my parents absolutely stink at parenthood...

Between them they have 5 kids.

Estranged, Older brother and sister see dad and younger brother and sister see mam, Youngest's kids see mam and oldest's kids see dad. I'm slap bang in the middle, Don't see any parent nor do my kids. If that's not bad parenting then i don't have a clue what is.

Reason for me not seeing them = More of a fact they don't bother with me..

Same as Dad took me for interview. I got Job, Car broke down, Dad said leave it to me i will sort you out. By sorting me out what he actually done was nothing and right up to start date i had to wait until i had no contact and tell them i was coming to work and car broke.

So if you are over 45yr's old and wan't a new son and grandkids feel free to PM me i'm sure we can work something out :)

Middle child issues at it's finest...

Unfortunately loony2012, I have to agree with Maestro on this one. You are not using the account correctly to promote an increase. Although you may be nearly maxing the card out, you are not repaying what you owe in full, therefore you are a bigger risk for not paying them back in their view. I am not suggesting that you would do that of course but how are they to know that?
If you pay off what you 'borrow' in full it does demonstrate that you can 'borrow' that amount each month and repay it. If they see you paying it back over a regular period of time you further demonstrate your ability to repay what you borrow. This behaviour will be more likely to get you the increase you want.
Incidentally I got my granite in June last year, I sarted spending small amounts and repaying in full, over six months I gradually increased my spending and repaid in full. It took me until March this year to get the increase from £250 to £1000. so it took them to have confidence that I could repay my borrowings 8 - 9 months.
I think all people who have Vanquis cards need to remember, we have these cards because we either have a bad credit history or no credit history and at the end of the day we are asking them to put their faith in us to do the right thing and repay their money.

For anyone who started off with the lowest credit limit of £150, how long did it take before you got an increase and how much did it increase by?

Started off at £250 and was raised to £1000 after one and a half years. Eight months after the £1000 raise, they raised it to £2500.

Seems i'm starting at £250 too as I received a text with my balanace yesterday (although no card or pin yet). Thought i'd only start at £150 seen as they said my APR was 59% :o .........i'm only gonna use it once a month for the monthly Tesco shop which usually comes in around £200 then pay it off in full after each statement, hopefully that will improve my credit over time :)
