Hi people, im really sorry if i post this question in the wrong place....I have had a credit card with vanquis for about 8 months and always paid the minimum plus extra as and when i can.
My balance was a few pounds from my limit but was still under nonetheless, i got billed as usual for the minimum amount and paid it on time by DD....
But then 5 days after they added on interest which put me over my limit and resulted in a £12 charge for being over my limit!
I was under the impression if i always paid the minimum amounts on time this could not happen? I did not use the card at all and my statements proove that.....but why would they add interest a mere 5 days after i paid my monthly bill?
I would really appretiate any help on this guys as im very confused as to how this even happened?! thank you in advance and again sorry if this is in the wrong place...joe0 -

They added interest because your new statement has been produced. Typically, this will happen five days, or so, after the payment due date on your previous statement.
Just to clarify, there are only three entries on your latest statement?:
the direct debit payment you made;
interest;
£12 charge for going over your limit.
No purchases, cash advances, payment option plan or anything else?0 -
Hi fellow Vanquis card holders, I wonder if any of you can shed some light for me. I currently hold a granite card and have received the first credit limit increase to £1,000. I do believe that once you reach £1,500 you have an opportunity to have a "gold" card with allegedly less APR, 24% springs to mind.
I'm wondering does anyone know if a vanquis granite customer would be elligible for this upgrade? I always pay in full but it would be good to know the APR was more manageable if I had an emergency that my savings couldn't cover.
My Vanquis limit was recently increased from 1250 to 2250. However, there was mention of it being upgraded to a gold card - so perhaps upgrades are no longer issued.0 -

Ok that's a confusing comment you made.
you just saidthere was mention of it being upgraded to a gold card
then you saidperhaps upgrades are no longer issued
so how can you say they are upgrading you then straight after say perhaps they no longer do it?
unless you mean there was "NO" mention of it been upgraded?
Hope you don't get a gold anyway. they hike APR up *_*0 -
I'm sure I read somewhere that the gold card had 24%. If they hiked the APR up I'd just reject and pay it off...Oh, you wee bazza!0

Does Vanquis actually help your credit rating anymore than a reg CC. Ive just been accepted after receiving a phone call, i receive card after 14 days etc not sure of credit limit, all i want to do is build up my credit report so im looking at paying my fuel on the card every month then paying off outstadning in ful odd month allow them to charge me a little interest to keep them happy0

Probably not.michael3429 wrote: »...odd month allow them to charge me a little interest to keep them happy
That's very generous of you. Like you, others here also want to pay interest. Seems bizarre to me, but whatever floats your boat...0 -
Has anyone had a limit increase off Vanquis with defaults on file?0
