Thank you for your interest in a Vanquis Visa Card.

Unfortunately from the information in your application we regret that we cannot
offer you a Vanquis Visa Card, as you do not meet our criteria at this time.
However you are welcome to reapply after 6 months if your circumstances change.

I applied to get the £25 Quidco - thats validated this morning and my new Vanquis card arrived today. £250 limit (enough for me) and they have not phoned me to check. Not expecting to get the card I did not put down my real phone numbers (which I am sure they will ask for when I activate the card though!). Oh - and I was discharged from BR 3 months ago.

    Full details are:
    £250 limit
    34.08% annual purchase interest rate
    41.196% cash/cheque interest rate.

Well - no cash and the cheques will go in the bin when they arrive (shredded I mean) and will set up a DD when I activate the card so it will be paid off in full every month. The plan is to do one small purchase every month (less than £20 that can be budgeted) to help raise my credit score/profile.

Well done Sky, I might give it a go next month

To be honest peachy, I really was in two minds. But I think that I have managed to get over my old spending mentality and am very much these days if I haven't got the money then I cannot afford it. I just needed something for an emergency - with my Dad and grandparents in Spain, if the worst was to happen I would have no way of hot-footing it over there and I do think that this factor will help me NOT to spend on it.

Thats the plan. The reality may be different and if it is, then the card will have to go.

Just got to tell the OH I have one now...... :o

I find the criteria on whom they accept applications from bizarre. Me and some of my friends and family who use Quidco applied for the cashback and got accepted apart from two. We all apart from one have good credit records, so the two that got turned down was puzzled to say the least.

The one with an awful credit history, 5 credit cards with which he makes the minimum payment every month, late payments, fees, a £500 overdraft in the red for going on 9 years got accepted and also had his BarclayCard Initial credit card's limit increased 100% this week without even requesting it.

I know this sort of cc is to help people whom don't have the best credit history or is just starting out to build up their credit which is great but why turn down people who have a good history?

Unless they do not see any potential in you as a customer. And do not think you will use the card.

Well that's what we figured., but I can't see any harm in accepting them, they don't stand to lose anything well apart from the cashback. I've ended up using mines though I promised I wouldn't.

I'm amazed this family member of mines gets all the credit cards, finance credit and catalogue credit he does, he's not even working.

Daft question. But for a really really daft non-excuse, I feel a bit wary of actually calling them to activate my card (I think though, more for "I have credit!" reasons or they'll tell me its been a mistake.)

What do they actually ask you when activating? I assume a hard PPI sell (I am good at saying no), but anything else to expect.
