  • hey guys,
I've applied for a vanquis card 2 weeks ago, I did the application online and the next day they called me to confirm some of the details, and then she politely asked for my last 3 statements! I handed them in and I received them back on tuesday (I asked for them back because they are quite important), with the statements there was a thank you letter, for providing the documentation that they needed.
now, they called me last friday (27th) but I missed the call, then again this wednesday and I missed that call too because I was working. never heard ever since and now I'm kinda wondering if they declined me or what. still no letters of rejection but they surely didn't call me like thousand times that's why I'm thinking maybe it didn't go thru.
does anyone know more or less how their applications work? how long does it take to know whether u got it or not? is it a good sign that they wanted to see my statements?
    im going crazy here :P

You have been accepted! You need to call them and explain that you have had several missed calls from them - They will then look into your account and go through their PPI speech and confirm you have been accepted.

If you dont call them soon or they cant get hold of you then you will get a rejection letter!

so if you don't talk to them they cannot just send you a welcome pack instead? I'll call them tomorrow then! and hope it's really as you said :)

ps: if that's the case, they might have rejected me already cos I haven't heard a call from them since wednesday :P but honestly it's not my fault if they call everytime I'm in work :P
  • Hmmm I don't get this one - OK I know at the end of the day a company does not have to accept you, but I thought I would try again with Vanquis as it has been more than 6 months now but got knocked back for a second time.

Went to Capital One for the Classic card and got 34.9% and a £500 Credit Limit and that's even with a Default that I am still paying off from them.

    Go Figure?

I thought Vanquis would give me a chance first with a 100% APR than 34.9% with Capital One.

Nevermind, I have got a Credit Card from one and that is all what matters.

Best of luck to everyone else! :)
    David :)
£1 of debt is too much for me!

Before I call Vanquis and ask can anymore confirm if it is normal for them to set-up two direct debits under different reference numbers, the first one appeared to them with the reference number being my card number and today another has appeared with a reference number that looks nothing like a card number and is about 5 digits longer.

Just wondering if i should cancel the second one, but dont want to end up cancelling it only to find it is a bank issue and required. It is on a Co-op bank a/c if that makes a difference.

Should be just one DD set up, which is the minimum payment.

Just cancel your Direct Debit(s) to them and pay online. I also use the Co Op bank. Even though when you make a payment it gives a payment reason code of B.... Which means it will take up to three days to reach vanquis, it always gets to them and shows on your account at midnight the following day.
You don't have to have a DD set up to have a vanquis card.
  • I tried to call Vanquis today, and I pressed 4, for the non-exisisting costumers, then 1 and 1 again to speak to an operator.. and the automated system just doesn't let me go thru to speak to someone! it just says, if you have been accepted u'll get ur card in 14 days, otherwise we'll proceed the application and contact you later. I need to speak to one of them tho cos they have tried to contact me after the statements but they always call me in inappropriate times! boohoo! what should I do? how do you get to speak to them?

Well, I got my card (Granite - same difference :)) without talking to them on the phone.

I was away visiting my parents for a few weeks and missed all their calls, and according to my phone's call log there were dozens of them. A few days after I returned home the card arrived.

    This probably isn't the norm.
  • that's interesting! does anyone had a similar experience to snow tiger's? I hope that'd be the same for me!

To get through to them call 0800 781 6314
Then option 4, then 1, then wait to the end of the message and press 1.
