Ring customer services 2mw when they open and ask them if they will ring you back on your mobile and see what they say!
They don't have access to ring mobiles, apparently! But this could be a security feature or something, tmaybe they do a 192 search or something? who knows....
They called me on my mobile today at 09:56 from a number beginning 0161.. I have quite a low credit score thanks to a default on an account with a mobile phone provider, from around three years ago.. They accepted me for a credit card and I'm hoping this will help me back to good credit.. I think you'll find Vanquis do call mobile phones..0 -
I've just realised I quoted a post from two years ago.. Aplolgies..0

My payment was due by 30th April to Vanquis this month. I pay by DD each month in full. Obviously the 30th was a Saturday and not a banking day. The first banking day was today.
The payment was due to leave my bank today - its all queued up and ready to go. It'll be gone when things update at midnight.
It's an odd one this month as Vanquis must have to allow for the bank holidays and not charge a late fee.
It'll be interesting to see how things work out, but I'm confident that no late fee will apply this month due to the extra bank holidays etc.0 -
just a quick question, whenever i transfer money onto my vanquis accoun from my internet banking, halifax tells me its gone faster payments, but it takes 3 or 4 days to reach Vanquis.
any ideas behind the reason for this?0 -

if it's late you will be charged. Vanquis will say that you knew about the extra bank holidays and should of allowed for it. However as your paying by DD, if your charged you would have a case to ask for the £12 back I doubt you will be charged, due to the fact you pay by DD, if you pay by online banking, you would only have yourself to blame for not making the payment early enough to allow for the bank holidays.0 -
I am just wondering if anyone can help me.
I had a Vanquis card when I was a student. I failed to settle my account and never received any correspondence from a collection company called Cabot Finance Ltd. I have today checked my credit file and a default was added this time last year. The thing is, if I had known about this company collecting the sums owed, I would have settled it to prevent a default.
Is there any way that I can seek to have this removed as I never had any conversation with the company. I am still wanting to settle the account.
Thank you

Vanquis have sold your debt to Cabot Finance Ltd. Basically vanquis have washed their hands on you. You're going to be stuck with the default for 6 years regardless of if you pay it or not. Now you have some choices. You can phone cahoot and arrange to settle the debt. Or you can lay low. From what you say, nobody is chasing you for this debt. So you either contact them and pay up, or wait for them to contact you. Seems like they have already given up on you, if they have not contacted you at all since the default a year ago. Either way your stuffed. You will get the CRA files marked as settled if you pay up. But it will still show up when you apply for further credit. It's upto you if you contact them. How much is the debt for ???
You will not be expected to pay it in one lump sum if you contact them, they will accept weekly/monthly affordable payments.
When they purchased the debt from vanquis they will of bought it for much less than you owe. If your debt is say £1000.00 they will of paid no where near that ammount. Maybe as low as a £100 or £200 So if it was say a grands worth of debt, and you have say £500 tucked away, you could make them an offer for full and final settlement of say £400 or £500 They will most certainly accept it. But tell them you want your cra file marked settled.
You do realise though you have more chance of winning the lottery, than getting a credit card again in the next 5 years. (thats when your default will drop off. Reason Vanquis are a last resort credit card. You have messed them around before, and they won't trust you again for along time. And if you don't qualify for a vanquis card, you have NO CHANCE of getting a credit card elsewhere.
Its up to you. Either pay it or wait and see if cahoot contact you. I'de wait also for others here, who are not newbies to this site to advice you with their opinions. Good Luck0 -

Thank you very much for your advice, I appreciate this greatly.
I have today contacted the collection agency and I owe £350 which is roughly what I remember it to be. The reason why I didn't hear from them was due to the fact they had a random address for me that I never lived at!? I have told them the new address today and pain £50 off with the aim of paying the rest on monday - they said something about getting the "underwriter" to agree to it?
Anyway, they have agreed to update the default to "settles" 4-6 weeks after I have settled this, although I will be stuck with this for another 5 years. Still, lesson learned. Strangely, I applied for a Capital One Progress Card a couple of months ago and was accepted, I've been paying off the balance in full each month to improve my score. I've got a phone contract too which I've been paying off two weeks before due date.
I'm not sure where they got the address from as it was clearly not the one Vauquis had on file - oh well. Is this fair considering I had no contact from them and only found out by searching my credit file?
I'll be holding off with a mortgage until that drops off.
Thanks again.0 -
Thought I'd share an amusing vanquis moment with you all...
2008 I had a vanquis card with a smallish balance on it which I paid off when I moved and broke up with my ex. Didn't think to cancel the card she held on that account (had other concerns at the time) and she ran up debts which subsequently defaulted.
Debt sold to cabot finance, in dec 2008, who have been pursuing me. I'm in the process of running some rings around them in terms of whether or not the default is valid etc, I suspect it will be but it wastes some more time anyway.
However, last night, whilst a bit drunk, I found an 'aquis' card website and realising it was vanquis thought it would be fun to apply. Got a call at 9.00am this morning, telling me I'd been accepted with a 1k limit and would i like a cash advance etc etc. No obviously.
However, I am very tempted to use this new credit facility to pay off cabot finance, which to me feels a bit suitably poetic, but the upshot of this is that even though the only default on my credit file that remains originates from a vanquis card they STILL approved me for a new card. Madness. Ah well, will be using it to build credit if it arrives, no drama and quite convenient with a wedding coming up at the end of the month!Debt free, moved, got new stuff for the new flat - got everything I wanted and need - now just saving.0 -

Do you not mean Aqua, thy used to be backed by halifax and is now under the brand of RBS, so they are nothing to do with vanquis are a part of Provident. Unless anyone knows otherwise?0
