    Ive just applied and been given the old:

    Thank you for your application for a Vanquis Visa Card. Unfortunately we are unable to give you an instant decision, but we'll be in touch within 10-14 working days.

    Is that a bad sign?

    No, it means they will phone you, go through some questions, then tell you yes or "we will get back to you" based on your answers.

    If yes they will try and sell you ppi (NO!) and a cash advance (NO!)

    Add £50 to whatever your cash advance is and that is your credit limit.

    Usual 59%!! Ouch. He didn't tell me what my limit will be, only tat he card will be sent out shortly, and my pin will follow within 7 days.

    Ive had a missed call from Vanquis this morning. Im too scared to ring back just in case they decline me over the telephone :eek:

    Since ive started typing this message they have called me again and ive been accepted. I was offered 100.00 cash advance does that mean my credit limit will be £150.00??

    Well congrats for being acepted :)

    It would look like a credit limit of £150 however I always though the minimum Vanquis limit was £250?? Dont know for sure unless they have changed the amount of cash advance they offer, I suppose you will have to wait and see when the card arrives :)

    As has been said many times before tread carefully with this card only spend o it what you can afford to pay off completely when the bill comes in, the card is great for adding lovely green o's to your credit file but do not use it as a traditional credit card too high APR and a good chance you will end up in a mess, especially as your credit limit starts to rise.............................

    All the best :)

    No, minimum limit they say on their website is £150.

    That's the first person I've ever known to get it though.

    Maybe even Vanquis are getting tough!!!!!
  • Im only intending on using the card to get me some green zeros.

    Over the past 4 months ive been accepted for cap one 300.00 limit and littlewoods with 550.00 limit. Im just trying to boost my credit profile abit :D

    Taken from Vanquis website http://www.vanquis.co.uk/vanquis-card/terms-and-conditions

    2.6 The (variable) APR in relation to your Account at the time of the agreement is one of the following:
    • Tier A) 19.9% APR (variable);
    • Tier B) 29.9% APR (variable);
    • Tier C) 34.9% APR(variable);
    • Tier D) 39.9% APR(variable);
    • Tier E) 49.9% APR (variable);
    • Tier F) 59.9% APR (variable).
    So Star-fire Stop telling him he cant have an apr of 34.9% as its there under Tier C

    So, I have a Gold card from Vanquis and my statement says that I'm on the following interest:

    Purchase Interest at 3.991% Per Month
    Purchase Interest at 47.890% Per Year

    Does that mean I'm on tier E ???

    Based on the post I quoted and this example:

    "So if your statement quotes for example 47%, your APR is in fact...

    47/12=3.92% Per Month
    1.0392^12=1.58

    =58% APR not 47%."

    You're Tier F!

    I wander if anyone is on any of the lower tiers or been offered a reduction at any point? I doubt it, but would be interesting to know
