It looks like I am on Tier C - so yes, people are on the lower tiers.

Nope. Use it wisely for a couple of years (i.e. only spend what you can afford to pay back and avoid as much interest as possible) and then you'll be able to move up to one of the less "sub prime" cards.

If you're looking to only repay minimum back every month I'd urge you to cut it up now!!

Im gonna make small purchases and pay the balance off in full every month. As I dont want to fall into the credit card trap.

Aye, that's what I'm doing, no greater than £100 spend on the card per month and paid in full by direct debit!
  • I have been moved from Tier C to Tier B...but I reckon this is more to try to get me using my card again. Possibly not used it for 18 months...but it did me a massive favour when I did need it

No, it means they will phone you, go through some questions, then tell you yes or "we will get back to you" based on your answers.

If yes they will try and sell you ppi (NO!) and a cash advance (NO!)

Add £50 to whatever your cash advance is and that is your credit limit.

The above is not necessarily correct, as I was offered a £200 cash advance from Vanquis, but declined, and the card arrived and a limit of £500 was given. Incidently, this was only six weeks ago, so hope this helps?

Then you're the first person in this thread to have differed from the norm.
