This made me smile will try for a mainstream card in february but for the moment happy with vanquis.

£2500 limit with a 50% apr and your happy,oh well each to their own i suppose.

To be fair, I was completely happy with them until they messed up my direct debit. Somehow my card payment made on a Saturday night was credited on the Monday so I didn't get any fees etc., but I have the capital one and flybe so didn't have any need and just cancelled it.

If you're going to pay your card off in full every month then it really makes no difference whether the rate is 5% or 50%.
  • Antoinette, I think I got my card in about 7 days. Pin day following the card.

Precisely! It just really is for credit building. And actually my APR is 41.2%. Kind regards, MG

True if your paying it off full every month, just make sure when you get a mainstream card that you don't pay it in full every month cause you might get after a year that your apr has shot up to something quite high.
  • Declined by Aqua but accepted by Vanquis today...woohooooo. DD set up for whole bill direct debit on payday so fingers crossed I can't mess this up. It's not living in my purse though. I'm pretty good, I have a phone contract that I don't stray over my allowance on, all green o's on that and both bank accounts so chuffed to be getting some more. Here's to mainstream in 18 months when my default finally goes away :D

Do you know how long it takes for card to come? Or if they are going to ring me and say it's all been a big mistake and they aren't going to give me my card after all lol. I'm a bit paranoid...can you tell? :o

I feel cheated - I have a £3000 limit but my interest has never dropped from it's initial 54%

Annoyingly, I've actually had to pay interest for a few months - but have since managed to get "proper" cards and my Vanquis card is soon to be filed in the shredder - well, once the limits increase on my new cards to a more reasonable safety-net level :)

Moral of the story - always ensure you pay your Vanquis card off in full each month - otherwise it can be crippling!

  • Got the card 2day, limit £250 & apr 47.8% so not quite as bad as the 59% i was quoted when approved!
I am thankful for Vanquis for giving me this chance, wont blow it & hopefully in the next couple of years will be able to go mainstream. Have learnt painful lesson of when credit goes wrong, older & wiser so again thanx Vanquis.
  • well done antonette, thats exactley what i want to do if they ever make their decision! Happy Credit building! x
  • Thanks LuLu.

Still have fingers & toes crossed for you.x
