Thanks Antonette, won't fully believe it until I've got the card in my hand, but hey, the PIN numbers a good start! Can't wait, only another 18months for defaults to drop off and then should have a really good score x

If you set up a direct debit, you won't have to worry about it as it will be taken from your bank account automatically.

I thought that too but now I am worried. I set up a direct debit as soon as I received my new Vanquis card. I set it up 2 weeks before the second statement was due and didn't expect it to go through in time so made the payment in full by bank transfer just in case. Good job really as no direct debit was taken.

So all good then, or so I thought. My third statement is due soon and the next payment date is due on Tuesday 5th October. It is now Saturday 2nd October and no payment has been taken yet. My bank have confirmned that they had recieved the direct debit confirmation form to set up the direct debit four weeks ago but, as yet, no debit has been called for.

Do Vanquis normally leave it till the last minute to call for the direct debit? It's making me very nervous.

Thanks for all your responses........I think the best thing would be to pay immediately......of course this eats into my high interest rate current account, but would save all this hassle.

I was/am most fed up about having a late charge, and paying the interest, despite the money having been creditted to my account 2 days previous. Ho Hum.

Oh, and to add insult to injury, I have just been told that the "allow 2-3 working days" for internet transfers is not accurate.....she, the account manage I have just spoken to, always advises folk to allow 5 days!
  • New to the forums, found this thread yesterday and have applied for a card. Got the "Thank you for your application, you will hear from us in 10-14 days" blurb.

Won't hold my breath. I can hear the credit checking team falling on the floor laughing!!

Well I just got my Granite (Vanquis!) approved... applied on Friday, telephone call this evening, told there and then approved. £500 starter. Offered cash advance and payment protection but politely declined!

So it's back onto the credit ladder I go!!

Wondering if someone who has applied recently can help me out.

I applied over the weekend and had a missed call on my mobile at 8.30 this morning. No message left or anything. If the same happened to you did they call you in the evening?

Also, is getting a call so quickly after application a good sign?

    So you take the initiative!

You ring the number back, if it says "vanquis" and doesn't give you options to talk to someone, then you get the number to call from this thread (look it up, it is in here!), ring it up, say someone tried to phone you and you think it's about your application.

Usually, they'll go through it with you and can tell you there and then!
  • I had several weeks of missed calls from them, phoned them back and they need more info toprocess my application (Their codewords for need to try selling you payment protection, etc) :D. Try giving customer service a ring.
  • Does anyone know how easy it is to cancel their PPI? I am sure I am sure I told em where to shove it when they phoned me but have just noticed it on my statement!!!!!

Any potential problems trying to cancel it?

    Thanks in advance :)
