underpressure-I have just read the comment you made about the different phone numbers and I totally agree, I have most probaly shot myself in the foot and really didnt believe it was a big deal, until reading more. I did read a post on here about another person doing that and they still sent the card, if its a decline i will try again in six months time and not be so silly, I have learnt a lot from this forum and won't make the same mistake again!
About the granite card, I'm assuming as they are owned by Vanquis, you cant apply if you have been turned down by Vanquis in six months, or am I wrong, what other info do you have on it as when its googled, not a lot comes up still for it.0 -

It is a really new card, the general consensus is as said it is basically a vanquid card with a new name, everything is the same even the online account management, as far as I know the same rule applies re applications if you have tried vanquis and been declined you need to wait the 6 months, however at the moment you have not been declined you dont know yet so maybe you should give the granite card a shot?
What does everyone else think? I dont want to offer bad advice so maybe see if anyone else responds, if it were me I would be tempted.....................
HTH and the best of luck, I know how declines feel believe me this is my first card in a longggggggggg time."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
Im really glad for you, I bet it so nice to feel "trusted" by a lender again! Thank you for the advice, no I won't apply yet anyway! I haven't had a credit card since 2005 and was so shocked when my application got referred, its made me really want to start my credit again, but hey 6 months isn't long in comparison to 5 years! And next time I will be on the electrol roll in my new address and be sensible with the application!0

I have an "odd" one - my new statement for my Vanquis card has been produced but it doesn't list any interest - which is most odd because I've been paying interest on it for months now as there's been a non-stop list of expenses over the last six months so whilst I've been keeping the balance down, I've not been able to clear it fully.
Just a little puzzled about thatMy posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Just a note to say that used wisely, Vanquis is an excellent way to rebuild your history. I earn a good wage but have just been discharged from bankruptcy after becomming a victim of the credit crunch.. yes it was all my own fault. my business grew way too quick and I was let down by non payers. anyway just thought Id cheer up a few of you with my tale.
Oct 2008, voluntary hand back of house, chased by northern rock for massive shortfall.
Halifax cred card and OD of £40'000 unmanageable due to collapse of business
Dec 08, took advice and agreed to sequestration ( scottish bankruptcy )
Had to wait for Ltd company to be formally disolved so finaly became bankrupt June 2009
June 2010. Discharged
June 2010.... appplied for and approved for vanquis 1 Day after discharge £250 limit 34%
July 2010. JD Williams account opened with the strandard £125 limit
Aug 2010. Contract phone at £20 mth with Tmobile direct ( previously with them for 2 yrs and paid in full )
Sept 2010. New Iphone 4 on contract with Tmobile so the wife now has my other phone
I now have the RBS Royalies gold current account with cheque book and Visa debit ( did not want and probably wouldnt get borrowing )
I am very forunate to have the advantage of an income of £45000 and am now debt free, have a council house in a nice area, can sleep at night and have the support of a great wife who stood by me during the bad times.
I am using the vanquis and other accounts to build my payment history again and am planning no further searches for at least a year. hopefully through time I can get a mainline credit card and eventually a mortgage again.
This is a great forum for advice and just wanted to share a happy story for once.
Chin up folks. there is light at the end of the tunnell if we use our new found lines of credit wisely0 -
Good luck to you looking ahead - sounds like you've got your plans all sorted out - hope it all comes together for you!My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Just a little puzzled about that
Whereas the call centre said my statement was showing estimated interest so couldn't be cancelled yet, whereas the previous 13 months were all zero interest.
My internet banking is now blocked after being told they need to chase something up internally before it can be cancelled and I haven't heard anything from them since. I'll call them up at some point but should I be receiving a letter confirming the cancellation?0 -
I've had my Vanquis card for 6 months now. Balance paid in full every month. £250 limit.
I had 2 defaults at the beginning of 2009 so I was surprised when I was approved.
It would be nice if they increased my limit a bit but I guess that's because of my 2 defaults.
How long after having the Vanquis do people usually apply for a better card and what are the choices?0 -
Hi all, amazingly today I was approved for a vanquis card!!!! My history is truely shocking & i am very supprised that they approved me. Things started going wrong in 07 when i lost my job & everything started to slide. Have many defaults & 2 ccjs. I am slowly paying everything off but its gonna be ages until its all paid, will probably drop off my file long before. Anyway I thank everyone on this forum as the advice & real life stories are really heartwarming. I have so learnt my lesson as since 2007 i have had only basic accounts with a debit card & although its been really hard at times I am living within my means. Going from numerous C.Cards & loans thrown @ me at the drop of a hat it has been quite an adjustment. I will be using the card to rebuild my credit & hopefully be able to pay off balance at the end of each month. The interest rate is truely shocking 59%, but i suppose that is the price to pay for now. That alone will scare me away from overspending.0

thats really nice to hear those comments made by looking ahead and antonette254, I rang vanquis yesterday after three and a half weeks from application and a week after giving more details over the phone, and the lady said on her system it looks as if I've been approved, she didnt sound to sure and said I should just wait, so really don't know still!0
