thanks izools, just tried calling them, explaining and the lady put me on hold and then came back to tell me they haven't made a decision yet. She said I rang on the 23rd and usually takes 5 working days so should be soon! fingers crossed, want to start building my credit again! what does anyone think my chances are?0

Hi, I have a few issues dating back to 2008 and Vanquis offered me a card this year.
I would guess your chances are as good as anyone else. The limit is pathetic and the interest rates are horrific but that doesn't matter as it is basically just a tool to start building green ticks on the credit file again.
Capital one might also be worth a try as well.
I was amazed to given credit again so soon after having problems, but I guess everyone deserves a second chance and these companies make a fortune out of the high interest rates and all the fees they charge for late payments etc etc.0 -
Good stuff!
RE: Lloyds TSB - if you've defaulted over six years ago but been making payments in the mean time the debt still stands, it just doesn't appear on your credit file. If you haven't made any payments for 6+ years then it is statute barred and legally unenforceable so if this is the case worth writing to them to say stop chasing me for a statute barred debt or I'll sue you for harrasment etc.
RE: The CCJ - I would contact Equifax if I were you explaining the situation and ensure they have that address listed on the report, and that it is formatted correctly - sometimes a subtle difference in the way you type the address can cause the data recorded against that address to not appear.
Good luck!

I think it must be down to address formatting issues.

Well what can we say? Neither your Experian or Equifax report show this adverse data, you've spoken to them and re-iterated your addresses to ensure they have it all down correctly, and still you can't see the adverse.
The only conclusion we can draw is that it's no longer there (or hidden from any creditors who credit search you, as well as yourself).
If you settled the CCJ within 30 days it would have been removed from your credit file in full, by the way.

youre being very helpful and excuse my ignorance but im perplexed. i was getting turned down, even for a 3 phone but this looks ok.
my ccj (the scottish version i forget what its called) was paid 4 days after the 30 day period unfortunately0 -
I got my Vanquis credit card (with a £250 limit!) through the post this morning, and activated it without any problem. Does anyone know if I'm able to use it without the PIN (which is meant to arrive in next few days)? I only want to use it for petrol. Do CCs use the Chip/PIN system like debit cards, or can we still sign for purchases? Hmmmm, can anyone tell that I've not had a CC in years?!0
