Has anyone had a call from vanquis about some kind of exclusive discount club? I did this evening. He said there's a 30 day free trial, after which time its £59 a year. In exchange for which you get £40 petrol vouchers and 'exclusive discounts' in various high street shops. Anyway I said yes, and intend to use the petrol vouchers and then cancel. just applied this morning with Sygma flybe and got rejected and got advised to try vanquis, have applied with them and got the "unable to give instant decision message, please wait 10-14 days" ... i guess from that it will probably be the same answer as Sygma gave instantly? ... prior to doing both applications i checked my credit file with experian and equifax and nothing adverse is showing ... strangely i applied for the capital one classic beginning of July and was accepted and made two payments, both times clearing the full amount0

A lot of people get the 7-10 days message and then get a call offering them the card :jstrangely i applied for the capital one classic beginning of July and was accepted and made two payments, both times clearing the full amount
But you are likely only on your 1st Statement aren't you? So on your credit file it will only have reported about 1 payment so far as you only had the card just 1 month.0 -

Back to the OP, I had a vanquis for around 18 months, £250, £500, £1250 then 2k. Once i have 18 [0] on my file I applied with my own bank and was approved straight away.
whats 18 (o)
im confused with all this0 -
a [0] is a mark on a credit report showing that the account was paid on time / run within terms for that month. Each month the creditor adds a [0] if you continue in this manner, [1] if you miss one payment, [2] if you miss two, etc.
18 [0] means LilacPixie has 18 straight months of flawless account conduct with Vanquis showing on their credit fileCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Well done! Is this your first card, or is it after a patch of bad credit?
It certainly was a great card to get me back on the road, was the first I got after bankruptcy. Pitiful customer service but excellent credit building toolCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

thanks. got in to a lot of trouble about 10 yrs ago with tsb. who gave 2 18 yr olds £7 grand credit limits when we were living on £140 a week ......
anyway this is my first one for a long time and im going to have to be really disciplined because i want to use it as credit building only. not just to buy things for the sake of it0 -
Ah so you've probably not got any adverse left on your credit file then as defaults drop off after six years. Good.
And if you take a look at my sig you'll see LTSB still haven't learned from their mistakes! They gave me, an ex bankrupt earning a part time salary that overdraft. I have no intention of using it and I've learned only too well how to treat credit with the respect and responsibility it deserves, but I figure leaving the overdraft there and being responsible with it will improve their opinion me further still. Going to have to be very careful if they offer me a credit card as everyone I've seen post here reports ludicrous limits on their cardsCashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
