In short, to avoid interest on any credit card you need to 1) not withdraw cash 2) ensure that you pay the full statement balance by the due date. Pretty simple really.

BTW, I noticed this morning that Vanquis' online service is now available! :D
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male:

  • lol Thanks now I do feel stupid, yeah just signed up for the online service, look very handy!
  • yeah spotted the online service service last week, seems good.

I have 3 defaults, but all satisfied and I have just been given Vanquis card with 250£ limit, when even Capital ONE refused their classic card. Little secret what Vanquis rep told me: you have VERY small chance of getting their card if you don`t have landline.
Of course I didn`t want to sign up with BT, so I bought Skype online number which is 020.... usual number. Just go to skype.com, it cost 10£ per month. Works like proper BT landline. Once you finished, you can cancel it online - no contracts.

    Good luck :)

I applied for a card a few months ago (can't remember when) and they phoned me on my mobile several times. They said they needed to go through the application over the phone so I told them to forget it. Wonder why they needed to do that?

Why did you tell them to forget it??????????? They only ring to confirm some of the details on your application, and basically welcome you to Vanquis!!!
If you still want your card im sure you can ring them and accept it!, they then just send it out to you, mine came within 5 days. :)

I think the reason they ring you is so they dont have to send out a credit aggreement, which you would have to sign and return, before the card is issued like capital one do. So you get the Vanquis card much quicker.
I applied for Vanquis and Capitalone both on the same day (24th July), got my Vanquis card a week later, although ive also been accepted for capital one :) , Ive only just got the credit aggrement this morining which ive signed and returned, but still have to wait another 7-10 days for the card :(

I thought Vanquis were more generous than Capitalone?? strange. especially if you've had 7 months of positive (assuming you have) credit history from your cap1 card.
Give it a few days and give them a ring.

Do you have a landline number on your application form? because a earlier post said that you a re VERY unlikely to be accepted if you dont have one

    Hi All

opened my Vanquis account in Jan this year with a limit of £250. In April my limit was increased to £500. Just had another increase to £1250.

A bit if background: Since opening my account I have sometimes spent up to the limit but always got the bill down to about 50% of available credit BEFORE the bill was generated. I've always paid in full too. My other credit account is with Next, where I have a £2000 limit but only ever spend about £80, and again always pay in full.

Very happy with vanquis at the moment - long may this last ;)

I think Vanquis are ok too, provided you don't let them add interest!
Their online site is decent and I've always found their customer service staff friendly and helpful.
