Yet another statement issued and yet still no increase in limit. Can anyone here beat this record (whilst running their account perfectly)?

16 months of having the card. Never missed a payment, never gone over limit, used card every month, never even been one day late with payment.

Is there something wrong with your experian report, like credit cards when giving increases they would check your credit report first b4 deciding to give you an increase..

And if you have had any missed payments,or your credit balances are to high, can be a number of things for them not to be increasing your limit..

When I took out the card, I had 4 old defaults and 2 CCJs on my file. In 5 weeks time the last default drops off my file. The only blemish left will be a couple of late payments with my Orange contract which were last year. 2010 has been spotless so far.

Total outstanding debt (according to Experian) is £640 and I'm using around 56% of my available credit.

The OH has about £4000 of outstanding debt and is using about 78% of his available credit. He has British Gas showing on his file as 6 months in arrears.

We both earn ~£13k a year and he gets limit increases regularly and just got approved for £800 limit from Barclaycard Initial.

I got approved for a Barclays Bank Account. They told him he could only have a Basic Account.

Before anyone says it must be the defaults- they were on there long before Vanquis gave me the card, so why should that stop me getting increases?

Oh, and OH was late with his Vanquis payments TWICE in the last year and he still got increases.

    Go figure!

Yeah 16 months with vanquis still with £250 credit limit and no increase is not to good tbh..
I see you owe vanquis only £63 have you tried hitting nearer your credit limit a few times that could be an option..

£63 is what they last updated Experian with, they're the figures I use in my sig. I either pay in full or as much as I can if I have a short month and I use it to pay for petrol. Latest statement has a balance of £213.

    Vanquis Black Diamond card:
Has anyone any info at all about this card. On the Totally Money Website it is showing in the credit builder page, along with all the usual suspects (Vanquis, Cap 1 etc and also Granite a new card apparently backed by Vanquis). Any way, the black diamond is not showing on the Vanquis website, or if it is, i can't find it. It shows as having 29.9%apr and as having flexible application criteria. I'm thinking of applying but just wondered if anyone on this forum has come across it or actually has one?

I got declined as i just got my barclay card when I applied.

Then 6 months later got one had it 3 months and interest pushed me 1.34 over my limit I paid the day my statement was issued and vanquis waved the £12!

Can I kiss good by to any increases?

Barclay dont like despite paying in full for 6 months they decreased my limit from 400 to 300.

Capital one I have 200 to 400 and pay more than minimum and never get near my limit.

So just applied for a card in the hope of building up my credit. Did a search through Credit Expert who advised me to go for that one, plan on using it for petrol through the month then pay it off in full at the end of each month. Got the 10-14 delay message while they check my credit, anyone know if this is a good or a bad sign!?
  • I applied for a Vanquis card and a Capitol One card at the same time got the Capitol One card with no fuss or additional information required, told Vanquis where to go because I got fed up with them calling me all times of the day requiring extra info to the point where I just repeating the same info over and over.
I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world

hey i have cards with Vanquis and Cap one - my advice is do NOT get a Vanquis card - they really do rip you off, very high interest rates and you need to allow enough credit to include the next months balance because they add overlimit fees when the interest takes you over your limit ( does that make sense ???)

also, credit expert advised me which credit card and loan company to apply to - and both declined me !!!!

so be wary of credit experts advice !!!
