Just got a call from vanquis saying ive been accepted, tried to sell me some sort of identity fraud protection which I refused, feels good though after being in the winderness for so long! What can I expect from the card and any tips on the best way to use it, only see it as a credit builder.0

Congrats :j
I'm still waiting for my call/text/letter and its been 8 days.
From what I've read your best using it every month, keeping your available balance under 50% of your card limit and make a payment (full if possible) on time every month. You should get another credit increase after 4 months (November statement). Important that you always make a payment and maybe even setup a direct debit. :cool:0 -
Vanquis Black Diamond card:
Has anyone any info at all about this card. On the Totally Money Website it is showing in the credit builder page, along with all the usual suspects (Vanquis, Cap 1 etc and also Granite a new card apparently backed by Vanquis). Any way, the black diamond is not showing on the Vanquis website, or if it is, i can't find it. It shows as having 29.9%apr and as having flexible application criteria. I'm thinking of applying but just wondered if anyone on this forum has come across it or actually has one?
Applied late last Sat night - just had a call (at work) from Vanquis to say i had been accepted. True to form from what posters have said yes she did try and sell me the PPI and offered me a cash advance (£200) which I refused both. I was then told my card/pin would be with me within a few days.
I presume I'll only have a low credit limit to start with - most likely the £200 lol - but then i'm only gonna use this as a credit builder, nice and sensible cos by god have i learned my lesson. Oh and got an APR of 39.9% - a year ago it would have been the 69.9%!0 -
My card arrived this morning, really quick just under a week to when they phoned to say I had been accepted!
Not explored there online facility yet, I'm presuming I can opt for paper free statements?
Thanks0 -

What? a credit card company make you pay to receive your credit card bill
Sound like the RyanAir of the credit card world. :rotfl:0 -
More specifically, they only charge you if you are registered for the online banking.
If you don't register, your paper statements are still free.
If you do register AND still have paper statements then its 49p a month.
If you just have online banking, this is free.
So basically you only have to pay if you want BOTH.Remember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -

You got it in one!
And no doubt the 49p would be added on the statement date incurring the £1 "We don't know how to calculate interest" fee for those that clear their bills in full each month...Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
