I applied to vanquish last Friday got a text on Monday phone call on tuesday the card is here today now I'm just waiting on the pin. So quick and smooth and theh started me on a 500.00 credit limit :-)
  • Stupid question - but does anyone know what kind of credit score they are getting to receive these cards? Trying to get my finances in order and sort my credit history out, but my score is listed as Poor ( 576 ) - just wondering if there's any chance of being accepted - its been nearly a week and I've not heard from them either way.

I have had very bad credit rating for a long time now (have 6 ccjs - all settled now and various defaults due to drop off in about a year or so) but am working on getting all my debts paid off and havent missed any payments etc. for about 3 years now. After reading this thread I thought I'd apply for a vanquis card to help build up my credit rating but didnt think I would be accepted (going to use it for food/petrol and pay off each month).

Applied last night around 9pm and got the message at the end of the application that they would be in touch in 7-10 days but just had a call at 10am this morning to say I have been accepted (apr 39.9%). Glad I read this thread though as they did try to offer me insurance and cash advance but obviously I declined.

Can't believe I have been accepted (I know its vanquis but I just want to get a start back to normality). :j

Thats great to hear. I applied about a year ago and got the knock back but I tried again last week and was told they would phone me to progress the application.

Despite the fact that I am working during the day and gave them my works number, they tried twice to phone me at home when I was at work so I took a day off work and they phoned at 8am - lol.

Accepted, tried to sell me the usual and my card / pin is in the post as we speak.

I am about 750 on Experian / Equifax but have been denied credit for about 2 years now so it is a relief to finally get something. Its a means to an end and there will be a minimun monthly payment standing order set up to avoid any possible slip ups.

I'm considering applying to start rebuilding my credit rating, on Experian i have a few missed payments in a row on a store card, (due the the company messing up when i moved house, they got my new address wrong so it took a few months to get a statement), and a CCJ (from an ex employer relating to a supposed overpayment of salary (entered without my knowledge, they haven't even produced proof that i owe anything, i'm going to appeal against this as a the screwed up by not informing me before it went to court and b because i don't believe i owe them anything).

On Equifax i have a default which will drop off in six months or so (which is in fact inaccurate - i increased my repayments on a HP loan after the interest free period, when doing this they set up a new account, the old one shows as defaulted although it is clear to see that i paid on time until the 'default' and then the following month a new account is set up with the same company -surely if i defaulted with them they wouldn't give me a new account the following month lol.) The CCJ shows on there and it also shows an Arrangement to Pay which used to be in place on a credit card i have. I now pay much more than the minimum payments on the credit i have each month, this is fairly clear on my Equifax report.

Am i likely to get accepted with this sort of bad credit history (1 CCJ a year and a bit old, 5 1/2 year old default, an old AP and a few missed payments)?

I know i don't have much to lose by trying but i applied for a business bank account with Santander today and was turned down, so i don't want to leave too many imprints on my file.

I applied for a vanquis card 8 months ago - got turned down.
Applied for a Cap 1 progress card and got accepted - go figure. Had that nearly 8 months now and doing ok with it. Credit limit of £800 now and my interest rate is reducing every 6 months.

I have reapplied to day for a Vanquis card - they have said that they could not make an instant decision and will be in touch within 10-14 days.

    I'm not holding my breath.

Anyone been accepted after a previous refusal?

What are my chances i wonder.

Well I haven't got the best Credit although I do have a Capital One card too. I applied to Vanquis 10 days ago, got the will be in touch message and have heard nothing unless they have tried calling my landline while i've been in work. I've had no texts, letters or emails (apart from the credit agreement email which says that doesn't always mean i've been accepted).

I think I will leave it for 4 more days and then I may get the courage to give them a call... I guess they can only say no? :o

Do you have some mail filtering software/service? If they decline, they may not be spending too much effort in contacting you, and a single email may be lost easily... You can always try to call them, and try to appeal on the phone if they say it was a no.
    Enjoy the silence...
