Having a mental block re: how interest works with Vanquis!
My limit is £1000, this month I have spent £990. I have the money set aside to pay it back in full. I'm now panicing about how the interest works as if they add interest on it will of course take me over the limit.
I always pay in full as soon as the bill comes in but I've never been this close to the credit limit before so haven't had to worry about interest tipping me over the credit limit.
Can someone put my mind at rest please, am I right in saying that as long as I pay the balance in full before the due date that they won't add any interest?
So if I bought an item on 1st July, bill comes in on 25th July and as long as I pay in full before the due date of 19th August then they don't add any interest. Seems like quite a long interest free period to me0 -

If you've always paid the bill in full, then you've never been charged interest, and as such have nothing to worry about, as your interest payable will be £0Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Thanks for the quick reply, I've had the card around 5 months now and have always paid in full before the due date. I've worked so hard to build my credit rating back up so didn't want to ruin it if interest was added which would take me over my limit. If that was the case I could have made a payment early but looks like there's no need.
Thanks again0 -
Yes this means that they have accepted you and want to call you to sell you insurance and a cash advance (which you won't take, of course).
Well done
Didn't for me, they wanted to just run through the application form and then said they'd let me know.
Because I told them I didn't use a land line I got declined though (as my landline was tied up to my sky box and not a regular telephone ... I know next time!)0 -
Vanquis have sent me some credit card cheques
And they have made one out to myself for £600
They say it's to boost my bank balance! :rotfl:0 -
Beggars belief doesn't it?
Well Vanquis shall be losing my custom very shortly. 2 months ago, they take the direct debit a day late for no reason other than it being a Sunday, then charge me £1.61 interest for the privelage, which appears on this month's statement. I call to complain. They say sorry about that I'll fill in a form to get it taken off. Then a couple of weeks later I change bank accounts and use the switching service to switch the vanquis dd. That all goes through fine and the dd appears in my new account on 1st July (just appears, they haven't actually used it yet, iyswim). Then I get a letter on the 14th saying 'We've switched your dd blah blah...We won't take the dd this month so you'll have to pay the bill some other way. And what date is the bill due? Oh, the 14th! And I was away till the 15th. Why did they decide not to take the new dd? No reason. So I call them on the 15th and ask what's going on. They say, would you like to pay the bill now, and no we haven't yet taken the £1.60 interest off, you'll have to see if it goes off next month. Because you're late we might charge you interest, we might charge you a £12 late fee, we might put this on your credit file. We can't tell you any of the answers at all though because the computer says no (basically!). You'll have to check your credit rating yourself, and wait for next months statement to see if we've decided to charge you any of these things. Bloody joke. I of course paid in full, including the £1.61 unfortunately, I felt I had to. What am I supposed to do?!?!0 -
What am I supposed to do?!?!
Vote with your feet, give them the two finger salute.
They are rubbish although the one thing to take heed of is that it is common place for the credit card provider to not take payment by DD on the statement produced subsequent to the DD being set up. There's always one you have to pay manually when you are switching banks.
If any late markers / late payment charges / interest charges appear as a result, demand they be removed on the basis that Vanquis didn't inform you of the monies not being taken by DD until after the statement was due.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48
