LOL Vanquis stay well within the confines of the law? You're having a laugh, right?

Their advertising is misleading, they quote their interest rate in "Simple Interest" not "APR" like they should (so if Vanquis quote 47% on the statement, the APR is actually 59.95), they don't send opt out letters pre-warning of interest rate increases and accuse customers of lying when they want to opt out when the statement comes through with an increased APR... What else... they ignore written requests to close an account and send out a new card instead, oh and they breach verbal contracts made over the phone.

That's what has happened to my ex and I over the last year, anyway!

Oh, and 0% interest of a balance is apparently £1.

    Vanquis + Law = oxymoron

Woo hoo, just got my 7th statement and an increase to a whopping £1250 :j

FWIW, I always pay in full by DD, previous limit ws £500, closest I got was this statement at £460, but it's usually between £250-£300.

I'm so pleased, that'll do nicely for when they swipe it for the excess for car hire when we go on holiday in the summer and leave some spare in case of an emergency while we're away.

Oh, and they still keep sending those bloody cheques, I thought that wasn't allowed anymore?

    Was that your first increase?

Hopefully I'll get one next month!

Have just missed a call from Vanquis - now I'm really curious as to what they want. My statement came out a couple of days ago, I'm nowhere near my limit and I pay in full each month so it's not about a missed payment!

Has anyone else had a call from them out of the blue?

I paid each of my Vanquis bills via FP and went in the same day - but doesn;t actually update with Vanquis til the next day...... I use HSBC and say I paid on Monday, by Tuesday my balance at Vanquis is reflected back to £0 (bear in mind i've only spent on it a handful of times so this data may be a little outdated!)....

Hmm... well the FPO from my Lloyds account left Tuesday morning but it only credited my Vanquis account today. Same thing happened when I sent a faster payment from my Barclays account... stupid Vanquis.

  • My credit history is very bad with a couple of judgements (although now spent). I am looking into revising my credit file.
I have had about 2 missed payments only but not for some time.
I have deliberately not applied for credit withing the last 6 months
The interest rate has now jumped to 42%!! but I am querying this

Statement number six for me today and still no increase :(

Am stuck with £250 - am so hoping it gets increased before I go to Florida in July cos I need it for the CC swipe on the car hire!!

Cant use Vanquis for that Im afraid....they have told me the card cannot be used in a swipe machine, only chip and pin which the US does not really use.
Please God, help me stop spending!

That can't be right or you wouldn't be able to use the card in America at all cos nowhere over there uses chip'n'pin (or at least they didn't last time we were there).
