I wish I knew this sooner! I just interpreted "looking after your account" to mean paying off what you buy in full/relatively quickly!

I tend to use my capital one card over this because you can see how much you have spent online (even though its got a really low credit limit).
  • I have never used my card up to its limit, but have always pay in full every month. I got my 1st increase to £500 after statement no 3, at this point they had only received 2 payments from me.
  • I've had my card just over two and a half years, have never been anywhere near my credit limit and have had five increases.

Just to warn everyone to check your vanquis statements thoroughly - got my statement last week and had been charged purchase interest despite paying in full every month - rang them and this was an error - good job i noticed!

Card finally arrived. £250 limit, on Band D rather than Band E. Horrendous APR but happy days.

You and me both! I always pay in full by DD. Noticed purchase interest £3.76 in Jan statement - hurrumph. Then checked all previous statements (took out card last Feb) and the wotsits had levied that £1 Minimum finance charge 4 times but not in consecutive months. And study of statements also showed they had put up the Purchase Interest in November WITHOUT notifying me in writing 30 days in advance - or at all. Okay so I don't pay interest anyway but with these other mistakes I am fairly fed up with them. So have written a formal letter of complaint. Do they wrongly assume that we won't notice small errors just because we are sub-prime at the moment? Grrrr
