That way you neatly pass the blame from the post office to another member of staff:D
I really wish a) I'd had a proper induction (raised this with boss not long after I was there and she said she would give me a proper one but still hasn't) b) boss had given me some kind of warning before suspending me and c) boss would explain to me exactly why she's suspended me and every single thing she expects from me.
I just feel really lost. I don't have a clue what I'm doing half the time! I have been enjoying the job until now but feel I'm being treated unfairly. And the trouble is, because I didn't have an induction, I don't know who my boss's boss is, and who to speak to when things aren't going well."Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

but I can feel my hackles rising with your employers too, as well as with Ssss's employers and Beachbeth's daughter's employers. I'll post more later. Just really try not to let this get to you. Make a GPs appt and have a chat with your support worker. Have a look at the ACAS website too - there is lots of info about different types of contracts etc - sounds like you are on a zero hours or casual contract. Information is power. See what you can find out. Back later.
Wish me luck - I think it's root canal work at the dentists
Hope the dentist isn't too bad
Hugs to Ssssss and Beachbeth and DD, it's a tough world, but we will all get there in the end. Don't let the #######grind you down!"Snowflakes are one of nature's most fragile things, but just look what they can do when they stick together."

I would think that at this stage, they would be able to take a statement from you and then take a statement from your daughter as and when she feels ready to do it.
I am actually quite horrified by the lack of response to this by such a major retail chain. I know that this is the last thing that you would want but if this kind of thing got into the press, it could do them alot of damage, and I would think that there could be no harm if you suggested the management that you are considering this as an option (even if you aren't - they don't know that).
The other thing that occurs to me is that they may well have broken (and are still breaking, by not dealing properly with this) Health and Safety law and possibly their own terms and conditions - I would ask to see a copy of their risk assessments for staff safety, their health and safety policy and their grievance policy - if nothing else, by asking for those it should make it clear to them that you are not going to let this go. I would also suggest that your daughter puts something in writing to the effect that she gives you permission to deal with this on her behalf (for health reasons, that she has been so affected that she is unable to deal with this herself). Has she been to her GP and ask for this incident and the way it is affecting her to be put on her medical records?
Just like the situation with Ssss, this kind of thing makes me so angry. There are laws in place to protect us from this kind of thing but those in positions of power and authority seem to think that those laws aren't worth the paper they are written on and it's those at the bottom of the pile who have to try to pick up the pieces and deal with it. It is really hard and it takes alot of work and effort to fight but at least at the end of the day, by doing so, you might be protecting some other young woman from a similar experience.
I know you probably need this like a hole in the head at the moment but maybe all this is taking your mind off your Incap Ben problems. If nothing else, by fighting this for your daughter, it should make her realise just how much you care about her (although I'm sure she knows that already) and just how much you are prepared to do for her.
Good for you - don't let the "illigitimi" grind you down - hit back!
this is one of the most best put / most useful posts I've seen in awhile :T
beachbeth we're all behind you and wish you the best of luck.
I would also like to thank everyone for their support with my work issue, I feel so much better knowing I did the right thing. I have another 4 weeks of being on so called training (even though there is no training and I'm actually working) and will then find out if they offer me a contract or not. If they do great, if not no big deal maybe it wasn't to be an to be honest starting in a new job and to have problems is not the way I want my life to go.0 -
Hello everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome Tiff, I love your posts!
Does anyone know where I can find info on any financial help that is avaliable, I don't work or receive any benefits ( the process for benefits seems too daunting for me, if I understand right, I have to prove that I am really ill/have interviews etc, this is the type of thing I'm not strong enough to face yet)
Also how do you all cope with other people's reaction to your illness and how do they react ?
Love Jess0 -
Thank you for the birthday wishes

You most likely wont get a reply from the CEO but he will kick someones butt in the right place. You could say that as a concerned parent you are considdering going to the police unless the guy is moved. and point out that whichever way the case goes the publicity isnt going to look good for the shop.
Sorry if im being thick, but what is a CEO?:o
I will show my OH your posts for when he rings up tomorrow. I want to make sure he says something like "Did you know that the way he behaved is actually against the law?" as well as saying that we are not happy with how it has all been dealt with. We will also make sure they know we will take this further, ie the papers and the police if they don't take further action.
My daughter should be arranging councelling (sp?) at her college but I shall suggest she sees her doctor too. I just hope that my husband doesn't pass this guy in the street (we live quite near to him). My OH isn't violent or a troublemaker but I can imagine his blood boiling if he should come face to face with him!
Thank you for your support everyone - you think you can just go to work and earn your pennies and then you get faced with this sort of situation, just like Sssssss.0 -

Chief Executive Officer, aka The Big Boss, aka where the buck stops finally ...
just as Sue said, very american term, in the good old days it would have been Managing Director. Problem is no way will you get to talk to these guys they hide behind their army of staff. Best bet might be to try and talk to the Human Resources Director, but try and ring the head office general switch board number not the call center.0 -

I've always lived my life within the law, however if all else fails why not get your husband and a few friends to pop around to this guys shop and have a word, but stay within the law. That's the kind of world we live in these days I'm afraid.0
