  • Aww the game sounds lovely katie! Bit confused as to what trees and acorns have to do with animals lol.

Well I had a good-ish day today. Stayed in my pjs until about 3pm, but entered loads of competitions in that time :D
Then I actually felt ok enough to get dressed and do my makeup and hair, which made me feel a lot better. Then managed to get some washing on, and did all my handwashing too. Tidied the front room, tidied my bedroom, tidied the kitchen, me and one of my housemates did the washing up and then he cleaned up some of the rest of the house. This made me feel better too - because I have taken a break from uni this year I feel like I have to clean the house all the time while the others are at lectures, so the fact that he did some was a weight off my mind. Then had jacket potato and salad for tea, which was a nice healthy change.

And then in the past hour i've written another review on dooyoo, and am now just chilling :D
might go get my 7th cup of tea for the day in a min :D

    lovies Bry x
  • Hi guys, nice to see we have a new home. Hope everyone has had a good evening, hugs and kisses to those who need them.
I'm having a nice weekend staying at my parents while they are away. Have had a huge headache today and spent most of it in bed (I think its a reaction to last week), and my DH has a cold so we are a right pair of invalids! Enjoying having so much room and a nice place to stay though. I wish we could be here the whole two weeks mum and dad are away but we have to go back for work. We should be able to get one more weekend here though before they come back.

    Moving next Saturday.

    Can't wait. :)

Sam is so excited, bless him. :rotfl:
It's weird because all of my previous partners have treated me like something they've stepped in.
Sam treats me lovingly and like a person, and he's also my best friend e.g. pillows at the ready for a fun fight.:rotfl: and staying up until all hours just talking about random stuff. XD.

This thread is here for support only, so it's ok to say 'I suffer with depression' but not to discuss the condition :)

I wasn't going to make any comment about this so that we could draw a line under what has been said on the previous thread and move on but I do feel that these conditions make it too difficult to offer effective support and that I will be definitely censoring what I say to people now for fear of breaking the rules.

For example, if someone posts that they have been diagnosed with depression and are feeling miserable and worthless and that their life has no meaning, I would not be able to reassure them that these feelings are a symptom of their illness and that with their GPs support and medication, these feelings will not last forever.

With these conditions, there seems to be little point in having any title at all. We might as well call this thread a general chit-chat thread as we can't discuss any illness, treatment or symptoms. It might as well be located in the Moneysaving Arms as in the health section as we can't discuss anything health related.

Sadly folks, from now on my posts are likely to be sympathetic but much less proactive although I suppose I can still PM people and will have to resort to that. Its just a real shame. Even just discussing this subject makes me feel uneasy and wonder how long this post will stay up for. I do feel that there does seem to be some inconsistencies in the rules regarding the discussion of meds, conditions and treatments etc as previously pointed out, and call it paranoia on my part (am I allowed to say that as it could be construed as discussing a symptom of my illness?) but I can't help feeling that the stigma of and fear of and ignorance of mental illness is raising its ugly head again.

I suppose I will be looking elsewhere to other forums now to see if I can connect with other people who are experiencing the same feelings as me in order to be able to establish whether these feelings are symptoms or not, because for me, the worst things about suffering from a mental illness are the fear of [STRIKE]not[/STRIKE][edited] being the only one feeling like this, the lack of understanding about the effect these feelings have on my day to day life, and not knowing how to stop myself from feeling like this.

In for a penny, in for a pound... I wasn't going to say this either, but I might aswell now - I really didn't see that there was any real need to start a new thread and I'm not sure what purpose it has served - in fact, it seems to have meant that the debate continues, rather than dying the death it might well have done on the old thread.

Look after yourselves folks, I'm sure I'll be back but at the moment I just feel so angry and patronised that it's better if I take a break from the thread. I'd like to wish Ssss good luck in his new job next week, Shazrobo - keep being the wonderful parent you obviously are in such difficult circumstances, Tulip - your posts are always so gentle and calming and I hope you really enjoy your new games, Tiff - hang on in there, its good to have a little cry from time to time but not too much as I don't think your lovely mum would approve, rosepink - have a lovely weekend at your parents house and you have next weekend to look forward to aswell, jo_R - get some benefits advice about these alleged benefits overpayments, don't just accept them without checking that they are correct and that they do have to be repaid, mezer - you seem to be doing just fine, keep going that way and you will find that the light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter and brighter, CCStar - do you know what your rights as a tenant are? Perhaps you could remind your landlord how lucky he is to a) have a tenant in his house in view of the current economic climate, b) have you as a tenant when he could have someone who doesn't pay on time, trashes the house and gives the neighbours grief, absolutebounder - thanks for the support and for giving me alternative solutions to explore

Sorry to all those I haven't mentioned and thanks to everyone for all their good luck wishes about my interview yesterday.

Most of all - to everyone - life can give you the most amazing moments sometimes, cherish those moments, store them away safe and bring them out when you need them. You are all strong enough to get through whatever life throws at you - each and every one of you - and each time you do get through something bad, you become a stronger, more grounded, more understanding person because of it. Be true to yourselves, stand up for yourselves and believe in yourselves - I may not know you all very well but I believe in you all.

    With much love xxx

    Hi :)

I know this thread is very restrictive but this site is a moneysaving site, privately owned, and Martin has to protect himself and the site.

You are right this thread, just for chat and support, should be in the Arms section,
it was originally started in the Arms but it attracted unwanted attention being in such a busy, boisterous place, I moved it to the Health board for some breathing space and here it has stayed for over two years.

Various users have questioned the restrictions but they are there for good reasons, there are many other more suitable sites for specific advice, however on this site the thread is just somewhere to chat with people who may be feeling the same as yourself, somewhere you may find a friend if you're having problems in the outside world,

    please don't leave :)

  • "Mental Health Support Thread 2009" ....

Excellent name! This sounds much more professional, topical, relevant and inclusive. It is likely to attract an even bigger and wider audience than the old DT. Well done whoever thought it up! On the subject of big audiences..

It's official - "more than 1 in 5 adult females experiences depression, anxiety or suicidal thoughts" (NHS recent report):

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2009/jan/28/women-mental-health-deteriorating

And the government is now trialling classroom lessons to help the 20% of teenagers at high risk of depression to deal with negative thoughts:

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7846578.stm

This thread is special and IMO justifies special monitoring; reading arguments, nastiness or pettiness on here can be triggering for people suffering mental ill health, and worsen their condition.

This is Martin's site and he can do what he likes with it! So many people have found help and support here over the years. Long may this thread continue!

    Take care everyone CB2X

people are NOT leaving because of the rules, which we have all read (and re-read) and accept. They are leaving because even posts that break NO rules are getting deleted without explaination. Some posters feel this is their thread and can at times be patronising. This is the 2nd time the mods / board guides have closed a thread and started a new one, that to me is like sweeping the problem under the rug, leave the threads open and deal with the problem(s) don't just shut them and us down / out.

or it can give them the strenght, courage and experience to deal with the real world in which arguments, nastiness or pettiness all exist. You are correct it can worsen your condition but it all depends where you are at in your life.

Recent events on here gave me the courage to deal with some real life issues e.g. have just started legal action against the karate club which a few months ago caused me so much distress that I posted on here for the first time.

    Hi guys!hello.gif
Morning all.wink.gif Any advance on 4 hours sleep anyone?
Actually that's not strictly accurate if you include the 4 hours I got when I fell asleep on the couch at 8pm. I woke up at 12.20a.m. and sent myself to bed at 1a.m. I then slept from about 1.45 to 3.05a.m., got up, had a hot drink and went back to bed at 4a.m. where I eventually slept until about 6.45a.m. I think it makes you feel worse to get your sleep in pieces like that, but I'm afraid that once I feel the cat-napping urge coming on, I can't stop myself no matter how hard I try. On the positive side, this post will also serve as my alibi, should I ever need one for last night!biggrin.gif
I noticed there are some new people around so I just want to send a sincere welcome1.gif to errata, pollsdolls, mely, eselt,
moneysavingmonkey85, peebody, little tinker and bennifred.sLo_hug2.gif Please feel free to post if you want to, and with as much or as little information as you feel comfortable with posting.wink.gif

By the way, I've done some tweaking to my first post guys. I left the rest of the title alone because you could go on adding to it forever, i.e., Support and Information and Discussion Thread.

Right, that's more than enough fluffiness for one post - I'd better get on before sazzy gets up!:D sLo_hug2.gif

Very well said. It is a good name, and it is Martin's site and we are guests here.
People come on this thread when they are feeling vulnerable and need the love and support of others going through similar things. The last thing they need to read are arguments and angry rantings. Of course there are times when we all get upset/angry and need to vent our feelings, but lets leave it at that, draw a line under it and move on.
I would like to move on from recent events and change the subject.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Jo_R, Ssssss, Katie, Tiff, and everyone else (too many to name) who have given me encouragement and support since I've been posting on here. I'm really grateful and I hope we can all continue to benefit from posting on what can be, if we let it be, a huge source of encouragement to keep battling with a horrible illness.
