Depression Support Thread

So sorry to hear your news, Shaz. Its very upsetting. Will this boy also be excluded from the taxi? My daughter used to have a taxi to school because of her special needs and there was always someone in the taxi in charge of the kids. This is provided for by the Education Authority isn't it, so they shouldn't allow someone like this such a facility if they are a danger to other kids (although I presume it didn't actually happen in the taxi). Im very angry this morning. Because my IB is on appeal I was told to apply for Jobseekers Allowance, which I did. However, when I went for my interview at the Jobcentre (for which I got very upset and stressed) they told me I wouldn't get it in my circumstances. However, if I applied for it then I would still get my stamp paid. I went home and thought about it and decided that the stress of "signing on" every other week wasn't worth just having my stamp paid and I cancelled my claim due to ill health. Well, I had a letter this morning saying that I am eligible for Jobseekers Allowance and because I cancelled it then Im getting one payment of £60.50 only.

The w***ers at the Jobcentre don't know what they are talking about therefore and shouldn't tell people what they are and are not entitled to! (excuse the language but Im really mad!). Ive now got to do a rapid reclaim and have another interview on Thursday to restart the claim because of their mistake!

Hope all is well,Shaz sorry to hear about Josh,hope hes ok now and feeling less shaken.BeachBeth *hugs* that was wrong of them,hope you can still reclaim what you are entitled to.I am also cross because someone rang on behalf Of BT and was waffling on about unlimited international calls etc.I tried to say I have learning difficulties and still talked so I went not interested thanks Bye Bye and put the phone down.They didnt take no for an answer and I have a limited amount of understanding anyway and I didnt understand what they were saying.

I can't stand pushy people on the phone, Katie. Once I know someone is trying to sell me something I just switch off and stop listening and just wait for them to stop talking to say "Im not interested" and then put the phone down without waiting for a reply. I hate being so rude but if I haven't asked them to phone me then what do they expect?

my son and the other boy in question, have an adult escort with them in the taxi, to stop incidents happening, the assault took place in school, and on a a day wen the school community police officer was present, so the police were on hand straight away

i hate people trying to sell me things on the phone too katie, you did the right thing hanging up, nobody should feel under pressure to buy things this way.

beachbeth, the staff at the job centre should have found out all the facts first, before telling you wat you could claim. hope you get it sorted quickly, and they back pay you any money they owe you.

I think I've pretty much always had mild depression but now it's full-blown ugly life crippling stuff. I'm on antidepressants (having switched from 2years on a different one) and I don't feel any better. I'm been followed by the local psychiatric (yes, I am a nutter) team.

I'm really starting to think I'm a border-line hospital case and that my kids whom I adore should be taken away from me. My poor kids, I don't want them to end up like me. After all, 2 lots of antidepressants and professional counseling haven't helped so what hope do I have?

I'm at home with 2 young children (my choice) and find it really hard to balance my life - I'm so busy taking care of my little ones. My partner helps when he can but he works long hours. No family locally either.

Is there any hope of recovery once and for all?

well I have been on here all afternoon mostly,I didnt have a sleep today as I had a good sleep overnight and I have lasted all day which is great for me I have been really busy doing things as well and keeping myself motivated and happy.

Hi npsmama and welcome, I see you haven't made it across to the other thread yet and to be honest I prefer a thread with the title 'Depression' that way we all know where we stand.

I really hope this thread stays and grows.

All I can do is share from my experience and say yes it does and will get better. Two years ago I thought the only way out for me from this ugly world was death. Now I'm finally beginning to see the little fliker of a light at the end of a long dark tunnel. I have recently started work again after 2 years! I'm not going to kid you it's tough but it's a start.

Hang in there is takes time and yes there are times when kids can drive you crazy but I know if it wasn't for my son I would not be here today.
