Hi all we've edited the explanation. The call rate is 3.92/min inclusive of VAT over the first 60 minutes. Plus we have checked with BT and you do NOT pay a connection fee on this call. (Connection fees aren't payable on inclusive calls and although you pay extra for this it counts as an inclusive call because the first 60 minutes is free). Thanks for pointing it out!

Thanks for clearing that one up - I thought my basic maths had let me down.
  • I got them all right - clearly I'm a genius ;):p

JOKING - any credit would go to Martin and the helpful people on here who've I learnt a lot from! :money:

Really chuffed but fascinated that some of the answers I got wrong I was sure of and some I got right I was uncertain of!
Would perhaps challenge the wording of the cereal one.
I read it as "buy 2, pay for one". realised when I read the answer what it was meant to be:o
More please, that's SUCH a good way of checking we're keeping on top of it all.
    Thanks to all involved.:T

Crickey. This is what I got. Years of teaching mental arithmetic must have helped get the IQ score up.

Didn't know about various loyalty schemes so had no clue on that one. Got the dog kennel wrong too! What was I thinking.
  • I got 20/25, well in the top 4%, and was feeling extremely pleased with myself (especially since my mum is twice my age and only got 11...), until I discovered that people on here have a much higher IQ than me and got much lower scores. Now I'm rather peeved off. Do you think the quiz knew I was multi-tasking by drinking a cup of tea at the same time and is therefore punishing me?

Complaining aside, well done MSE team: it's a great exercise.
  • Surprised myself by getting 20/25 (169)!:j

Interesting to see which ones you get wrong though.
I got 20/25 too, but an MSIQ score of 189! I assumed that the difference must be down to the time taken (I rattled through it pretty quickly), but have just spotted Martin's post saying that the questions were weighted.
I got all the Maths ones right - but so I should, being a Maths teacher! - two of the shopping ones wrong (was torn between beef in gravy and the dog kennel, and plumped for the wrong one) and one wrong in each of the other categories.
I'll admit that having done the Christmas quiz helped, because the brand-name challenge Q was in that one too and I got it wrong the first time!

Finally, help me some one but Q21, how can the correct answer be a 29% chance of winning if the explanation says 'most people win £0' .. what have I missed ?
As the explanation says, 1.8% means that on average you'll win £18 per year for every £1000 invested. So on average you'll win £50 roughly every 3 years... so the chances of winning £50 (or a bigger prize) in any one year are roughly a third of that, and if you're not in that third of the population then you win nothing in that particular year.

Martin, I have a question too: when it says "0.3% scored more than you", does that mean they got a higher score out of 25, or a higher IQ score? Either way, only 89 out of 29,719 people beat me, so I'm pretty happy with that!:j

P.S. Thanks for adding in a "Back" button this time!
  • Hey folks,

Yep the questions are weighted, with some just worth 1 point (the easier ones) up to others worth 5 points (the tricky ones). There are also an extra wodge of points awarded for how quickly you do the quiz.

So, if someone answered less questions correctly than you but got a higher IQ, this means the questions they got right were either more heavily weighted, or they got through the quiz more swiftly.

Am glad people seem to be enjoying it :)

  • :T I got 195!! 20/25.:T
    I surprised myself!
I got no 5 wrong - I have no idea about airmiles - you need so many to use effectively that I don't bother:cool: .
And no 8, I had a sneaking suspicion about the house valuation thing though :D
no 21, the 1.8% for premium bonds put me off - everyone knows there's no interest paid on these:p
    no 22, was sneaky
And according to the answers I only got 4 wrong, but it says I got 5 wrong:confused:
