Morning. Not had chance to read the thread - will read later. yestreday I did nothing but type for money and keep breaking off to go and re-load the washer. Stripped all the beds and washed all the bed linen. Today I have been working (typing) since about 8.30 and have just had a "break" to clean the windows in my living room. HELP! I have now cleaned then twice - once with the asda window cleaner and once with my own stardops and vinegar solution. I have now used three differnt cloths and newspaper to "rub them up" and still they are streaky greasy looking. What am I doing wrong? They are really beginning to irritate me and technically I shouldn't even be doing it as I hurt my knee again yesterday - over-stretched stripping the beds and put too much weight on it....... . Anyway I have just left the stuff on the windowledge and managed to put the hoover away and will now go and type whilst I calm down....

Good luck with all the typing - I've been doing the same for weeks now! For your windows, try neat vinegar - it should cut through the grease.

Thanks - I am going to have another bash at it later (the niff of vinegar is obviously not bothering the budgies as they are chatting away but did sit and watch me cleaning the windows with interest!! :D ). I've been "at home" since October now and last month broke through the bar I had set myself of making more at home than I did when I was "at work". I was tres chuffed!!! :D :j
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

Rage in Eden - well done on doing so well since you've been working at home. I suppose I could say the same if my DH paid me for the work I do for his business! As it is, I don't think I'll earn enough at home to replace a proper wage, but it won't stop me trying! I much prefer to be at home!

  • I am so pleased to see that I'm not the only one that says Bah Humbug (or whatever the Feb equivelant is) to valentine's day.

I really can't be bothered with all the faffing around and the total rip off prices that are charged for the least wee thing. Flower prices get silly, a meal out is the Valentine "Special" at a grossly inflated cost. Eww I sound like a miser ;)

TBH If I can't show DH that I love him all year round then I wouldn't waste my time on an overpriced hype of a day.

I will cook him something nice though and since it is a Sat he may get a pud is he is good :p I did find a nice piece of smoked cod for 82p as a whoopsie yesterday that I chucked in the freezer so that will be useful for a nice kedgeree on Sat which he loves :D Valentine's day on a budget :rotfl:

Reverbe the red cross has a register of all those who were in danger but have survived - have a look there. I fear it will be some time until there is an official list released - there are still areas to which access is impossible and the authorities are determined to do everything properly, including identifying people.

To reassure you, UK papers, in common with papers of all nationalities, report what is of interest to their readers. If they got wind of a recently emigrated British family who had died in the fires I'm sure they would have reported it.

Thanks but they are American and moved last year from Texas and California respectively. I am still searching and hoping and have placed an ad on the Herald Sun website.

Rage try a damp microfibre cloth and then follow with a dry microfibre one.

DH home early and demolishing the last of the pea soup with a home made roll.

I had porridge so not peckish yet which is unusual for me.

DH came home saying he has been talkingto a colleague who uttered the magic phrase "Your wife is quite right!" I made him repeat it several times!!!;) I have been trying to talk him into taking earlier retirement as his job is getting more stressful. The fact that someone "else" said it seem to have helped the penny drop.

Might make a pasta dish for DD(15) as she is home early after P.E. and then make sausage and mash with extra veg or mince for the rest of us.

Hoping for my order from approved food to arrive today but very disappointed they are out of stock on the sachets of curry and tomato and chilli etc. as they were so useful.

Hugs to everyone and see you all later

    Congratulations to rmac:T
