    Afternoon all.

Just done Stardropping the bathroom, so having a time out with a cup of tea.

Mr LW is w*rking from home today, so we have the infamous Shepherd Spy for lunch. Have made some bread rolls as well, for his lunchbox.

Poor love, he has to visit the Fang Farrier again tomorrow, to get his new crown fitted. He's on late shift anyway, so he's going first thing in the morning (8:30 appointment) and his manager has said it's fine if he's not there by 9:30 (official "late shift" start time). The dental work should only take 15 mins or so, but then he has to drive all the way to Letchworth, and of course we don't know what the roads will be like. We're so glad he dentist was able to save the tooth though, as an implant would've been £2000, as opposed to the £150 the new crown is going to cost.

Mr LW is finishing w*rk at 15:30 today, and we have to go to the Post Office to post a document to Canada (to do with his Aunt's will) and then go for some groceries. Not sure if we'll go to Mr M's or Mr T's, it'll depend on the roads (Mr T is closer but I prefer Mr M).

((((HUGS)))) to all who want/need one today.

I am so pleased to see that I'm not the only one that says Bah Humbug (or whatever the Feb equivelant is) to valentine's day.

I really can't be bothered with all the faffing around and the total rip off prices that are charged for the least wee thing. Flower prices get silly, a meal out is the Valentine "Special" at a grossly inflated cost. Eww I sound like a miser ;)

TBH If I can't show DH that I love him all year round then I wouldn't waste my time on an overpriced hype of a day....

We exchange cards, but OH doesn't buy me flowers (very rarely buys them actually....isn't that what that spare bit of housekeeping is for? ;)) and we don't go out as it's a rip-off....we're having another couple over for supper....heart shaped pate & toast to start, lamb shanks with carrot & parsnip mash and heart-shaped chocolate pear meringues for pud :D
  • Morning OS friends!

Thank god the rain stopped! I was about to build an ark and float off this hill I live on! Poor Treacle went out for a wee and came in in a filthy mood, howling like a banshee and giving us both hurt looks.
    D&DD - congrats.pngThat is a huge achievement!
RMac - can't wait to get an update...
Redruby - *hugs* to your nephew
bargainbird - how is Spike doing?
Sunnygirl - good luck with the checks today but they would be mad to find anything wrong you are doing such a great job
Rage and Moliere - am very impressed you can earn money at home from typing, though you both obviously work hard at it.

All in all, yesterday was not a good day. Well I will amend that, the day was great, the evening wasn't so good. My OH helped me sort through some things in my office while I went through piles of paperwork so we were busy together and it was quite fun. We decided to spoil ourselves for tea and had what we call 'holiday' tea - french bread, ham, cheeses, pate, and something hot from the deli. He went to Morrisons at 1900 and got virtually everything we wanted marked down to less than half price so was as proud as punch. He got a huge packet of still warm bbq ribs for about 70p. So it ended up not being as expensive a dinner really and almost OS though no cooking involved!

Ok.. we ate early and then I came online to a message from my friend in America. Tristan was in surgery. Yesterday he started feeling really bad again and finally 'gave in' and agreed to the op. He was very weak so everyone was really worried about him of course.. Two hours pass and the news is that he is Ok but the op wasn't able to achieve what they wanted it to achieve. Tristan wakes up to be told this and is really cross. He yelled at everyone who persuaded him to have the op, that he only did it to make them happy and it hasn't changed a thing and it's all 'their' fault.

This apparently includes me as I asked him to think really carefully about it before he said no. So he isn't speaking to me right now as he was still furious right up til I went to bed at nearly 0100, despite my emailing him. He can stay mad for days so all I can do is wait. I will give him 24hrs to 'stew' and then email again! I know he is just projecting his own anger out there and his fear and frustration at the cancer but he has too little time left to stay angry with us all.

Anyway, today we test drive two cars - one that I really like the look of, (Hyundai Santa Fe) and one that Ian has fallen in love with but to me it's just a huge van! Dinner is left over bits from last night with a couple of baked potatoes.
Sorry I talked so much. Warm smileyhug.gifto all who need or want them today.

Thanks Diva! I was just coming on actually to say that I am officially a good parent :D I've often thought so myself although the kids would probably say different :rotfl:

I'm so sorry to hear about Tristan being angry with everyone. It's perfectly understandable, like you say he is projecting anger, but it's not worth spending ANY remaining time being angry & negative. Huge huge hugs to you all & him. I've still got the prayer mat out for everyone. Keep emailing him he'll have to give in and answer eventually!

Diva (((((hugs hugs hugs)))) Tristan sounds as though he has that very male trait....stubbornness:eek: What he is going through is natural and he is railing at life in general rather than the individuals.

Take warm fluffy hugs to wrap you in and relax and think positive thoughts

Another load of washing is in, it's a new set of bedding (with curtains) my uncle bought for himself but then changed his bed from a double to a single, so he gave it to me, it still has the cardboard between the sheets. Problem is it is black with grey circles and i don't really like darker more masculine bedding, so i am going to use it in my teen son's room. Problem is that i now have to purchase another double duvet!

I've just made 2 pizza bases and have popped them in the oven, then when they have been in for a little bit i will remove them, let them cool and then freeze them so when i want one for our evening meal i can remove it from the freezer, put on the tomato puree an topping and then bung it in the oven, no fuss.

I've just also completed an inventory of what is in both my upright freezer and my supright chest freezer. Blimey, it is well surprising what you find when you are doing this, isn't it!

I have enough portions of poultry and meat to make at least 14 main meals with. Wow! Also i found scones and dropped scones i'd made and hot cross buns i had bought reduced form a supermarket a few weeks ago.

Time to put kettle on for another pot of tea...methinks i have been working hard today and deserve it!

  • Thank you all -

Mudgekin - Oh yes, he is one stubborn cowboy and OMG it's frustrating at times! :rotfl: But that is partly why he has still here so you can't really knock it!!
Sunnygirl - thanks for the continued prayers, they are really appreciated.
Lamewolf - thank you for the good wishes and hugs hon.
Kath - yes you do deserve a nice cup of tea!!

I am having a bit of a down day. Posted on here, went back to bed and had a good cry. It hasn't helped much but that's OK, I am back in control now. Am just waiting for my OH to arrive back with the car for us to test drive.
