Home again, home again, jiggetty jog!

hello everyone, feeling so much better for my 'Light Therapy'. Also lovely to see DD.

Hey though! Back to reality. Saw doc, who agreed to me going back to work, would have given me longer if I wanted and very tempting, but because of half term would then have been missing for 5 weeks instead of 3, that doesn't look so good. Fortunately only got to do 2 days, so feel OK. Feel less OK about return to work interview, but at least it's today and not hanging over me. LM less than sympathetic and already has it in for me. I WILL be strong!

Also back to OS and not having someone else putting my meals in front of me. Shame! Did Mr M just now, between shifts. Spent more than planned, but have enough meat for a lot of meals. Mean to keep budget as low as possible for Feb as well.

    Got :
    Free range chicken.
    Pack of liver
    Large turkey leg
Pork shoulder steaks. Some were labelled special offer and were 2.99/kg. Others 4.99, so I picked up all the ones at £2.99, which was about 1500g meat. Think I might have a spicy pork recipe somewhere....

Am trying to eat sensibly now, I'm working away at Easter and would like it if I fit into some of my nicer clothes. Also the big 5-0 is looming this year.... I didn't put any weight on while I was away, as I was eating fairly sensibly.

We could do with a 'Headlines' thread, just one liners, so I could catch up with what went on while I was away.

Hope you are all happy and well.

    Purple

Was thinking pork enchiladas with some of the pork. Chicken is for emergency meal with more people than just the three of us. Last time I did curry with the turkey, but would welcome new ideas for the pork. We like stuff with strong flavours I guess.

Mrs Mix, Silvercharming and Redruby thanks for the info re DT. I have been in the Moneysavers Arms a few times but never noticed the smaller, separate threads underneath before. Maybe I should get that appointment at the opticians after all :D

1 onion, sweated in a little oil
Add pork (cut into chunks if possible) rolled in seasoned flour & fry until golden
Add 1 tin tomato soup & handful dried sage

Put in low oven (gas 2-3) for 2-3 hours

Serve with mashed potatoes or parsnips & something green or with pasta

Lovely & sunny on Lancashire coast :)

Wow I'm amazed at what everyone had achieved already this morning, I knew it would be a good thing coming on here, you guys will get my bum into gear!!!
Made girls beds, towels in wm, bedding waiting to go in. Dough is now proving, gotta shape the rolls to let them rise (yummy!!!)
Lunch was HM soup, ryvitas & soft cheese for me, HM pasties (made with leftovers) for OH & LO had PB&J sandwiches, cucumber & fruit.
Dinner is spag bol made from mince base from the freezer (previously cooked the meat in SC with lentils, onion, stock and then froze in portions) once its been magically transformed! Need to add a bit of soya mince in to pad it out a bit more, we're practically vegetarians by accident!

I must admit I don't venture around the boards too much. I check greenfingered as I'm trying to grow stuff this year and I check family board and Health & Beauty (weightloss threads!) but thats about it. I never go to MoneySaving Arms, too scared, I like to be here where everyone, on the whole, is friendly and generally any upset is caused unintentially and more by hurried typing or reading than real malice. I shall stay where I'm welcome!

Hello everyone,(((hugs))) to Almo, sorry you've been upset on DT,its bad enough watching on the news.Thinking of all those people affected over there.
Just been to Lakeland and had lunch there, lentil and veg soup and rolls, very nice.Only wanted a few bits, mainly the bags you can pour soup into and then freeze,as most of my soup is frozen in single portions am hoping they will take less room up.
Warmed up here from last night, snow has melted, but rather grey out.
Silvercharming,I sympathise with the will stuff-we've been executors several times in the last few years and things seem to move so slowly, its a nightmare.Hope its sorted soon.
Well best go and do something after my morning off :D

Hi everyone, i have been absent from the forums for about a week. Just to give you an update, i met with the neurologist and am waiting for my MRI appointment, my dad had to keep postponing his doctor appointment due to the weather but finally went today and has been given another prescription and will need further x rays in a few weeks to see if the fluid in his right lung is still present (hope no one is eating while reading this - sorry if you are!).

I've been doing lots of OS things this week. I did spend a lot of money in the supermarket the other day though....all i meant to do was take my mum to Tesco and i spent £71 in there!

I am thinking that it would be better for me to do the Annual grocery challenge rather than monthly, though i will try to stay within my monthly budget if possible. It's just that when things are on really good offers i stock up and then that means i spend more than i should, but i don't need to buy that product for 6 months or more and get it at half price or whatever.

An OS thing i did with chicken this week...I bought 2 chickens this week, then i cut them into portions so there were 4 x chicken breasts, 4 x chicken thighs and legs, then i put both chicken frames and the 4 x wings into a large pan, covered them with boiling water, added dried herbs, salt, pepper and garlic, and simmered for about 2 hours. When i sieved the bones from the liquid i discovered that there was a lot of chicken meat so i gave my daughter a bowlful for her supper and the leftover chicken meat made 2 x meals for my dog! I froze the chicken stock too so i will have enough chicken and stock to make lots of meals with and i'm really pleased with myself as before now we would have had a medium chicken for one meal.

Hope you are all doing okay. I'm now going to go to the beginning of the thread and read about what you are all up to :-)

p.s. It's misty and every where is covered with snow here in Staffs.

p.p.s. I got my new (to me) car on Thursday and I love it!

Didn;t do too badly then did i!

DH home early and enjoyed the pea soup I had just made.

Rolls are proving in the top oven ready to bake later and will make chicken curry for me and DD later as DH and other DD want a la leftovers!!!;)

Going to have a look for the recipes for sweet or savoury "impossible pie" later and might try it tomorrow.

((Almo)) sorry the idiots got you down- is awful about the fires in Australia.

    Hugs and see you later.

    Hi everyone!

Almo and anybody affected by the fires - I am so sorry abut what's going on. It's utterly heartbreaking, and I genuinely think if they catch the arsonists they should be tried for murder - they knew precisely the risks they were taking.

Rainy in Surrey today, been to my lecture on Clown today - so much fun!! Apart from falling off my chair :embarasse

Went to a wedding reception Saturday night, and I'm only now feeling better - was worth the hangover though!

Got to get some work done before rehearsals at 5.00, best shoot off...
