Hi, this is the Daily Thread for today. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread that we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we have achieved already. Everyone is welcome so please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well”, type start does just as well.
¡Hola!
Well as I am an hour ahead of many of you thought I'd starting things off today. DH is sleeping soundly, he seems to need far more than I do:rolleyes:
Could I just ask if you could just add a general area to your location, I keep reading the weather reports look to see where it has done what and - no general location:mad: . Sorry just a pet annoyance. Its showing 13 here atm, and we had a lovely day with less breeze so managed an hour on the patio doing a tapestry, drink coffee. (I'm sorry I'm ducking my head out of the way while you throw things at me);)
I had the following sent to me by a friend, thought anyone with a minute or two the spare may enjoy it to.

I don't have a BM out here, as the kitchen is not large enough for many gadgets, though have a small SC:D . Bought a roast chicken on Saturday, they do them here stuffed with wild herbs and they taste gorgeous. Had the "other than the breast " Saturday, and had the breasts chopped up and done with mayo with jacket spud yesterday. You lot have certainly got to me cos I then popped the carcass in the SC and have some nice chicken soup just ready to add a little cream/veg for today.
Managing our daily walk, hope it does the necessary for the BP & waistline.:o Did a load of washing and got it dry so ironing for today, plus another load to go on.
DS & GF went back to Donny this weekend for a friends birthday celebration from deepest Gloucestershire, and just as they were going to set off back, the exhaust fell off (our old) the car:eek:  Question is it is worth the exhaust:mad:
:grouphug: Hope your are feeling a little better Pen-Pin, M-M, W-S, MSD & T and all everyone else who's name has just flow out of my head. :grouphug: to all stuck in by the white stuff and ice :grouphug: to M sorry to hear about DH's work situation, it is bad out here too :grouphug: and to anyone else who'd like one :grouphug:
 to all

Morning all.
I am feeling very down today and am almost in tears because of some stupid troll on DT. I know I shouldn't feed them but they're basically saying all the Victorians who are dead from the bush fires deserved to die. I don't normally let things like that affect me but it's far too close to home - people we know have had to fight for their farms and the death toll goes up every time I look. Things are just horrific here in Victoria and are only going to get worse.
Still, I am safe and well and that truly is something to be grateful for.
I think I must get in the habit of checking the daily thread again as it comes to a close - I know that recently a couple of people have replied to me but I'm not really sure about keeping yesterday's thread going when today's is active IYKWIM and by the time I've seen the messages that's what has happened!
Hugs to all who are in need. I hope those struggling with job losses, illness or anything else find some respite soon.0 -
Good morning..........coffee number 1 is going down a treat. Mr Tesco is visiting today.........yea. I am getting tired of my own cooking!!!Today, my BEST is good enough.0

Morning folks.
I have the day off today. I have some cars to fix though, but waiting on parts. I shall loaf around this morning and start the decorating I think. I will begin with the filling in and sanding and then figure out what paint to get.
OH has work today. All kids off to school and college later, so a peaceful morning.
I have 2 Governor meetings this afternoon. One to decide which 4 teachers get made redundant. Sad that is. The school needs to save money, so jobs have to go... I blame the government. In fact they are to blame for everything.
Better get the packed lunches made.

Hi Donny-gal - good to hear from you. I'm a southern softie down here in Hampshire. We had snow for the first two days of last week but it soon cleared and everything was back to normal by the Wednesday afternoon. It's very cold with a good frost in the mornings, but we've had a mixture of rain and sun for the last few days. I really feel for those who are snowed in - it's been awful further up country; I've just been reading about food shortages in the supermarkets so it must be really difficult. We've been very lucky down here.
Well, for those who are snowbound, I really hope it clears up for you soon. The snow is great for a couple of days but when people are starting to worry about food and other supplies, the novelty soon wears off. I shall be so glad when Spring is finally on the way.
We had a busy day of visitors and phone calls yesterday so I hope to relax a bit more today. It's a sad day for me and my family because it's 40 years today since my dear father passed away. We would normally drive to Wiltshire to pick up my Mum and take her to the crematorium (in my home town of Weston-super-Mare), but she doesn't want anyone to drive in the bad weather (it's bad in Wiltshire, too). We have decided we shall now celebrate Dad by all getting together on the anniversary of their first date, in August. As she says, it was the start of us all as a family! We all love the idea so that's what we shall do from now on. I shall phone her later this morning, though, so she knows I'm thinking of her and Dad.
Dinner tonight is the rest of the stew we had on Saturday, with the rest of the YS cherry pie I bought the other day for pudding.
Anyway, must go and have a shower to try and wake myself up. I was up early again this mornng because I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep again.
Lots of (((hugs))) to you all.

Almo, that is awful, I was sorry to hear of the loss of life and property, especially when it is said they were folks re-starting them if they managed to extinguish them.
The "rules" losely applied of the thread is if you have been to bed you start the next day's thread often replying to something from the day before. Most of our Aussie friends tend to work it to the UK timescale. Hope Aussie-Girl's place is OK while she is cruising.

Hi Donny
Aussie lives up in Queensland so will be safe from the fires but parts of Queensland have heavy floods. As far as I know she's in South East Queensland, and the floods are concentrated in the North but such a huge area is affected that I echo your thoughts and hope her loved ones and property are ok. Arsonists have indeed been relighting fires - frightening thought.
Thanks for the heads up on thread-answering etiquette
Mioliere, hugs on the anniversary of your dad's death. I think it's a lovely idea to commemorate him on the day he and your mum first met.0 -

Try not to think about the comments they have made. Many trolls are just ignorant and small minded. Any you dont like, you can just put on your ignore list.

Morning everyone
Donny-gal that youtube video was fabulous, thanks for sharing!
Almo - there are some truly horrible people around. I know it's hard not to get upset but please try not to go back to the threads in question, the trolls just love to get a reaction. You're safe here with us, nobody would dream of being so rude and hurtful to you here.
So today is an Unmanic Monday cos I'm officially unemployed now. When I accept temporary contracts I then end up unemployed when they finish. I really want to go for nothing but "permanent" jobs from now forward. People tell me to go for temporary jobs because it's apparently easier to get a new job whilst wo*king. I can't say as that has been true for me, it's always such hassle taking/making phone calls, getting away for interviews etc etc. More than once I have had to choose between keeping a temporary employer happy by showing up all day or going for an interview which I may or may not be successful at. It's really hard - I don't want to be out of wo*k but I don't want to land myself back in this predicament which is bound to happen if I take temporary contracts.
In the meantime, once I have done lots of job hunting, I'll have time to do some hardcore Old Styling this week. I really need to do an inventory of my freezer and cupboards and use up various bits and pieces in the fridge, so maybe today's the day that will happen.
Oh aye, and I need to wash the kitchen floor - I hate that job with a vengence, but I am totally out of excuses now.
Have a great day all.

Morning all
I'm off to work soon, only rain here at the moment here in Berkshire, so I'm expecting the school to be open. We have snow forecast for tonight though, when the kids aren't at school I lose money, no kids = no lunch duties = no overtime = ouch.
I've swapped 2 books on readitswapit & joined twitter.
Breakfast - porridge
Lunch - left over lamb & roasties
Tea - liver, bacon & onions with mash & spring greens
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
