Heinz,
Thanks very much for the reply and the welcome. I've phoned Orchid as suggested and they are sending me the details - very helpful! As you say, much better to start from a working baseline than have to clear the table and start again.
Cheers, David.0 -
My HP Compaq nc6400 with built-in modem seems to be working fine on COM3. Windows XP and Office 2007.
Many thanks for making this available, Kevin!
By the way, I emailed Orchid today and Maggie replied almost immediately with my routing tables in a spreadsheet, so they are still being very helpful - when you consider I only paid £14 for the V4 back in 2005Serendipity

Kevin and Heinz - fantastic application and great set of rules (respectively).:j
Have just successfully updated my V4 dialer after redecorating the room, only found out about the (happy) demise of CW Client when I realised the dialer wasn't working properly. Over the moon that this will probably also fix my current BT bug bear, namely the cost of Caller Display which used to be free.
Thanks a million.
BTW I'm using an on-board modem on a Dell Latitude 610 - and a use for that very old modem cable as well!0 -
Glad it helps a few people0

As an Orchid user of several year's standing I've just been directed to this thread - looks like you've done a fab job replacing CWClient, Kevin! :T
Before I expend the time on getting your spreadsheet working on my system, could you confirm whether it will work OK with a cable phone, rather than a BT line? Just that ISTR looking into the Heinz program some time ago and rejecting it because it was BT only or something.
Of course I could be remembering this entirely wrong...!
Thanks

OTOH, the program itself will probably be different (e.g. using a 18185 prefix on a Virgin Media cable line will achieve nothing and, hence, the Heinz program will not be suitable).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Couldn't have put it better myself :-)0

Where can I find the operating instructions for the program used to program the Orchid dialer? Do I need to have Excell installed?0
-
Yes you need Microsoft Excel. The "program" is actually a spreadsheet with macros built in to do the clever stuff. It also contains a sheet with instructions for use.

The "official" orchid manual is here:

This thread is discussing an alternative tool. See post #1 in this thread for a link.
You do need excel for either.0
