Hi Kevin
Many thanks for the Excel spreadsheet excellent.
Query in the advanced box you have clear routing and carrier table clear which you choose 1 and select writing. It then goes through each line.
In Orchid instruction it says:
To clear the entire Carrier Code table enter the following code:
** # 0000 * 2222 * 6 and
To clear the Routing Code table enter the following code:
** # 0000 * 1111 * 6
just one command. Why the difference or can Orchids be programmed in?
Also suggest: Carrier Code on top of
Day Night Weekend
as it explains what the numbers mean.
Brilliant spreadsheet it will teach me a lot.
Thanks

I think you may have fallen foul of a 'feature' of the spreadsheet
When you select the advanced tab, the 'Write Routing Table' and 'Write Carrier Table' buttons are selected by default, and so all lines will be written.
Ah Ha I hear you say - I unselected those... Ah Ha I say back, if you select 'Clear Routing Table' the 'Write Routing Table' button is automatically selected. My reasoning is that you would not want to leave your box with no routing data, I have no idea what the resultant dial plan would be, so what you probably wanted to do was reset the box and write your new dial plans.
If you really want to just clear the tables, select 'Clear Routing Table' and then unselect the 'Write Routing Table' button, this removes the safety catch and lets you just clear the table.
The 'Clear\Write Carrier Table' buttons are similarly interlocked.
I take your point about the extra labeling of the carrier code selection columns, not severe enough in itself to warrant a new version I think, but I will consider rolling it in to the next release that needs to be made.
Hope that helps0 -
Hi Kevin
Thanks for the reply.
I understand now!!! and it worked great.
Totally agree not worth updating for the label change as it was just a minor ease of use suggestion.
Many thanks for you time.
Michael
ps Anyone with a table suggestion if you are signed up with TALKTALK. (I am and very happy with service and price.)0 -
Hi Kevin, Can your sheet be made to 'auto detect' a modem using a loop test function to a range of COM ports, then show the connected COM port cell change colour from red to green?
Perhaps just a 'Test for Port' cell on the config sheet? I guess you don't want to offer an option to detect on first run of the sheet in case there are other devices connected to COM ports.
I won a Zoom usb modem on Ebay for £6 delivered. Connected to COM 3 and it has stayed there irrespective of which USB port gets used(nice!). Sound card on headphones confirms tones being sent.
Before anybody gets enthusiastic after getting their modem, make sure you have a copy of your routing setups. Just in case you connect your modem on another telephone jack and forget your Orchid is still connected!:exclamati0 -
While in theory it could, the current code would not support that and I would have to write a whole new chunk of code to query the modem - and still cope with special cases where people have more than one modem available - to be frank I don't think it would be worth the effort, I think it would raise as many problems as it solves.
I would agree, before playing with this spreadsheet, make sure you have a copy of the setting you want your Orchind to contain - I have heard that the dial home service has stopped working (I don't know for sure) in which case using a modem or manual programming from the handset will be your only options.0 -
Thanks, All seems gone now, Webserver and Call Home not available.0

I'd be very grateful if there were a version of the excel file that worked in OpenOffice.org.
I get the following message when trying to run the Set Time macro
***************************************************
A Scripting Framework error occurred while running the Basic script
vnd.sun.star.script:Standard.sendTime?language=Basic&location=document

from my limited knowledge of Open Office I believe that a complete re-write would be needed, the macro languages are not sufficiently compatable for the application to run 'as is' (as you have found)
I do not have the time - and perhaps not the ability - to do that right now, but I may take a look later on0 -
Thanks Kevin for your reply but I've actually discovered now that there is another version of OpenOffice produced by Novell that *does* run Excel macros correctly after all! (To be honest I had no idea that there was another version apart from that produced by Sun.)
http://www.novell.com/products/openofficewindows/
It runs your Excel macros fine. Thanks.(Now I just have to find the conflict with a program that is accessing the modem - can't imagine what's doing it at the moment.)

That is good to know, I was also unaware that the novel version was available and that it would run more complex macros - I'll definatly be taking a look, an open source solution might help a lot of people.
Thanks for your input
